Assetto Corsa Rally: A New Chapter in Simulation Racing
505 Games, in collaboration with Supernova Games Studios and technical partner KUNOS Simulazioni, has unveiled Assetto Corsa Rally, a thrilling addition to the renowned Assetto Corsa series. This rally racing game aims to broaden the existing sim racing experience already established in previous titles. Set for an Early Access release on Steam on November 13, 2025, it will initially be available on PC.
Recent Developments in the Assetto Corsa Series
Assetto Corsa Rally marks the second release in the series this year, following the debut of Assetto Corsa EVO on January 16, 2025. While EVO is still in early access, discussions surrounding its official 1.0 version continue, with a tentative release expected in Fall 2025. However, as of mid-October, no concrete updates have been announced.
A Glimpse into Gameplay
The announcement was accompanied by a short teaser trailer featuring gameplay footage that illustrates Assetto Corsa’s innovative approach to rally racing. Viewers can watch the trailer here:

Advanced Simulation Technology
Assetto Corsa Rally utilizes a tailored version of KUNOS Simulazioni’s acclaimed physics engine, specifically adapted for the challenges of rally racing. This includes simulating uneven surfaces, jumps, varied road conditions, and a dynamic weather system to enhance the realism of vehicle behavior across diverse terrains.
In a press release, Supernova Game Studios emphasized their commitment to realism through “laser scan technology.”This technology allows for precise replication of every rally course, capturing the real-world terrain, road irregularities, and even environmental elements like vegetation placement.
Powered by Unreal Engine 5
To elevate visual fidelity and performance, the game is being developed using Unreal Engine 5. When it enters early access next month, Assetto Corsa Rally will feature:
- 33km of fully laser-scanned real-world roads.
- Four Special Stages with 18 variants across Wales’ gravel and Alsace’s tarmac roads.
- Ten iconic rally vehicles, including Group B, WRC, and Rally2 cars.
- Five gameplay modes with triple screen support.
Future Expansions and Game Features
The eagerly anticipated 1.0 version is expected to introduce six additional special stages, an expanded roster of 30 vehicles, new gameplay modes such as a career mode and a rally school mode, along with VR support. However, a specific release date for this full version remains unannounced.
Insights from the Development Team
Reflecting on the absence of a modern rally simulator, Supernova’s director, Maura Notarberardino, stated, “We assembled a team and developed technology to fulfill this need, collaborating with drivers, engineers, and industry experts.”She expressed gratitude towards KUNOS Simulazioni, whose partnership helped preserve the series’ unique driving experience in this new venture.
KUNOS co-founder Marco Massarutto mentioned that fans have long requested a rally-focused game within the Assetto Corsa franchise. He explained the complexities involved in creating a true rally simulation, stating, “This racing discipline demands a unique approach and focuses on the clock rather than competing against AI opponents, allowing us to fully optimize the physics and mechanical behavior of vehicles on varied surfaces.”
The Rally Racing Landscape
Notarberardino noted the existing gap in the simulation rally segment following EA’s acquisition of Codemasters and their handling of WRC games, which has left fans of the genre wanting more. Codemasters has halted future WRC projects after the last title, leaving both simulation and arcade rally enthusiasts disappointed. Nacon’s recent announcement regarding the revival of WRC games indicates that fans may have to wait a while longer for new releases in that space.
When Assetto Corsa Rally launches in November, it promises to be a fresh option for rally enthusiasts, particularly those seeking a genuine simulation experience. The community eagerly anticipates how this title will perform and its potential impact on the genre.
