The From Spark to Flame quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows introduces players to the Hideout feature, an essential area where you can construct various buildings that offer distinct advantages and bonuses.
The primary goal of this quest is to establish the first Kakurega, a type of building that enables players to oversee safehouses throughout Japan. To proceed, you’ll need to gather the appropriate materials.
This guide details the steps to complete the From Spark to Flame quest and highlights where to find the necessary materials in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
Steps to Complete From Spark to Flame
Completing the From Spark to Flame quest is straightforward; however, the duration may vary based on your current material inventory. The aim is to construct a Kakurega, which can be accomplished by either interacting with the desk in the main room of the Hiroma or opting to build when in an open area of the Hideout.
To initiate the building process, hold the triangle button and select “Improve Hideout” to view your Hideout overview. Then, press the square button to enter Build Mode and locate the Kakurega.
To build the Kakurega, you’ll require the following materials: 60 Crops, 30 Wood, and 5 Minerals. Once you’ve gathered these items, choose the build option to place it in an available plot. Successfully constructing the Kakurega will mark the completion of the From Spark to Flame quest.
If you already possess the required materials, you’re well on your way!
Acquiring Hideout Materials
There are several effective methods to gather Hideout Materials in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. One of the primary ways is by purchasing materials from Port Traders, who serve as merchants within the game.
Additionally, players can discover numerous materials by exploring enemy outposts and camps. These locations typically contain a variety of Hideout Materials (Crops, Wood, and Minerals), enabling you to construct more buildings efficiently.
Once the Kakurega is up and running, players can enter and undertake contracts that yield Hideout Materials as rewards. For instance, completing the Liberate Cargo contract provides a significant bounty of 780 Crops, 585 Wood, and 195 Minerals.
Benefits of Building Kakurega

Constructing the first Kakurega unlocks significant benefits, and players can further enhance it to maximize its utility.
Here’s a breakdown of the upgrade path for the Kakurega along with the perks associated with each level:
- Kakurega Level 1: Unlocks a scout, provides fast travel options, seasonal contracts, and supply access.
- Kakurega Level 2: Grants seasonal provincial rumors that disclose the locations of collectibles and unique treasures. Scouts can also be designated to manage Regional Alerts.
- Kakurega Level 3: Expands the number of available Kakurega locations in Japan and decreases the costs for unlocking Kakurega by 30%.
Be aware that advancing to each new level will require increasing amounts of Hideout Materials.
