Assassin’s Creed Shadows Clarifies Roadmap Amid Multiplayer Speculation
Recently, speculation about the introduction of multiplayer modes in Assassin’s Creed Shadows has resurfaced, originating from a leak that occurred prior to the game’s official release. However, the situation has been clarified following an announcement from Ubisoft Quebec regarding the year-one roadmap for the game.
This afternoon’s update from Ubisoft Quebec provided a comprehensive look at what players can expect over the next twelve months. Notably absent from the roadmap were any references to multiplayer functionalities, leading to skepticism about whether such features will ever be introduced. Regardless, here’s what is confirmed to be in the pipeline for Assassin’s Creed Shadows:
- Upcoming Update on May 6: The first major update will roll out in a week, introducing a new story quest called ‘The Works of Luis Frois’, enhancements to the Codex, and various quality of life improvements.
- Late May Content Drop: Another significant update is set for late May, featuring an intriguing collaboration with another franchise. This patch will also deliver new parkour interactions as requested by the community, including height-gaining backflips, responsive height-gaining side flips, and a newly designed parkour maneuver known as the Vertical Ledge Jump. This move permits characters to leap and grasp onto canopies and lower overhangs, providing strategic alternatives when wall running isn’t viable.
- June Updates: Players can look forward to additional story content in June, including a new quest and an ally joining the League. Enhancements also include the introduction of an Alarm System within the open world, new difficulty options, and immersive features such as toggle settings for weapon glints, filters for black-and-white-and-red abilities, unique assassination celebrations, and stealth outlines. Notably, players will also have the option to remove their character’s headgear during conversations and cutscenes.
As 2025 progresses, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will continue to evolve with the introduction of a New Game Plus mode, additional story releases, further quality of life updates, special collaborations, Codex expansions, Animus content, and most anticipated, the Claws of Awaji expansion. This ambitious update promises to introduce a new region, adding over 10 hours of gameplay. It’s worth noting that Claws of Awaji will be available for free to pre-order customers, while pricing for other players has yet to be announced.
Since its release, Assassin’s Creed Shadows has thrived, significantly contributing to Ubisoft’s revenue during a challenging restructuring phase, which has led to the establishment of a new subsidiary dedicated exclusively to overseeing popular franchises including Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six.
