Ubisoft has officially announced a delay for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, pushing its release to 2025. This unexpected news has taken fans by surprise, particularly those who were anticipating the game’s initial launch on November 12, 2024. According to Ubisoft, additional time is required to “polish and refine the experience.”Here’s what they shared:
“We understand that this decision will be disappointing for many, especially those who have eagerly awaited an Assassin’s Creed title set in Feudal Japan. However, we firmly believe this is in the best interest of the game and your overall experience as players.”
Marc-Alexis Côté has also highlighted that Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set to introduce a renewed stealth experience, enhanced by cutting-edge technology and an immersive game world. Due to these ambitions, they require more time for fine-tuning. While fans may feel disheartened, Ubisoft has promised compensation for the delay: all preorders will be refunded, and those who make future preorders will receive the first expansion at no extra cost.
Currently, it’s uncertain whether the historical controversy surrounding one of the game’s protagonists contributed to this postponement. Ubisoft has not addressed this issue in their announcement. It remains to be seen how these developments will impact the game in the longer term.
