So, how can players journey to this enchanting feline paradise in AC Shadows? While you’ll naturally encounter this destination through a side quest as you progress through the game, you can also find your way there sooner if you know where to look.

Option 1: Make Your Way to Okishima

For those eager to meet cats right away in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, you can venture to Cat Island shortly after completing the introductory section of the game. Once you exit your initial map region as Naoe, your adventure begins.

Your destination lies in the northeast: head to the Omi region. Despite being significantly under-leveled compared to the enemies in this area, you can still explore freely as long as you avoid unnecessary confrontations.

Situated in the heart of Lake Biwa, Cat Island is located just northwest of Azuchi. To reach it, either swim across or look for a boat along the coast to expedite your journey.

Upon arriving at Okishima, also referred to as Cat Island, don’t forget to scale the viewpoint located in the northern part of the island. This will make future visits much more convenient.

While you may not find hundreds of cats as you had hoped, there are still dozens of friendly felines available to pet and enjoy your time with.

Option 2: The Wheel Turns Side Quest

If you prefer a more organic discovery of Cat Island, you will eventually uncover it while engaging in the The Wheel Turns side quest, which is part of the “People of Omi” objective group, indicated by Lady Oichi’s icon.

This quest becomes available once you’ve made sufficient progress in eliminating all of the Shinbakufu targets, so some patience is required.

To initiate The Wheel Turns, it is essential for Yasuke to select romance dialogue options with Lady Oichi. The correct choices will have a heart icon next to them, indicating romance.

As part of his romantic endeavors, Yasuke will propose a date at Cat Island after he meets Lady Oichi in southern Azuchi at the beginning of this quest.

This quest not only leads you back to the island but also introduces some bonus encounters with both cats and dogs, making it worthwhile to complete even if you have visited earlier.
