In the world of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Naoe and Yasuke delve deeper into their quest to uncover the intentions of the Shinbakufu agent referred to as the Wheel. As part of their investigation, Yasuke must rendezvous with Lady Oichi’s bodyguard, Kuma, amidst the picturesque Shimmering Fields of Omi.
If you haven’t ventured to this coastal region during your gameplay, don’t worry; the clues provided to locate Kuma are rather scarce.
This guide will help you pinpoint the exact location of Kuma’s lookout, which is essential for progressing in the Price of Rice mission.
Locating Kuma in the Price of Rice Mission
Your search for Kuma, a character with a history that spans from a rice farmer to a sumo wrestler and now a bodyguard, will be guided by the following hints:
- He resides in a town situated in Omi.
- His location is in the northern area of the Shimmering Fields.
- A canal is nearby his lookout point.
You’ll discover Kuma in the charming coastal town named Hachiman’s Canal, found along the shores of Lake Biwa. This area is specifically located on the eastern bank of the lake, aligning with Sakamoto yet positioned on the opposite side. Look for the tower embellished with a white diamond marker adjacent to an Ornament Vendor, which identifies Kuma’s lookout.

Once you engage with Kuma, he will direct you to confront yet another unscrupulous official in Omi, who has been extorting local farmers. Upon arriving at the farmers’ site, you’ll hear about a drunken samurai causing chaos nearby, which must be dealt with on the far side of the field.
After successfully defeating the troublesome samurai, return to the farmers for further information. They will inform you that the Daikan is situated in Azuchi, specifically at the Daikan Mansion.

The Daikan’s mansion is conveniently located in the southwestern section of Azuchi, just outside the main castle defenses, and lies to the north of the Kakurega. You’ll find that the Daikan is not heavily defended, allowing for an easier battle.
After retrieving the letter from the official, make your way back to Kuma and prepare to confront the true power behind the Shinbakufu’s corruption.
