Continuing its trend of enhancing the RX 7000 series, AMD has officially rolled out driver support for the new Radeon RX 7700 graphics processing unit (GPU).This addition comes as part of AMD’s ongoing commitment to bringing powerful hardware to gamers and content creators alike.
ASRock Debuts Radeon RX 7700 Challenger; Driver Support Included in Adrenalin Edition 25.9.2
The spotlight is on AMD’s latest RDNA 3 GPU, the Radeon RX 7700, which leverages the NAVI 32 architecture. This new GPU finds its place strategically between the Radeon RX 7600 XT and RX 7700 XT that debuted in late 2023 and early 2024, respectively. Despite their ongoing availability, these models typically fetch higher prices than their initial launch costs.
Featuring 40 Compute Units, the RX 7700 is a scaled-down variant compared to its RX 7700 XT sibling, which boasts 54 CUs. As a result, it includes 2560 Stream Processors while enhancing memory speed to an impressive 19.5 Gbps, slightly surpassing the 18 Gbps memory speed found on the RX 7700 XT. Additionally, the RX 7700 offers a competitive 16 GB of VRAM, supported by a 256-bit memory bus, marking a significant upgrade over the more powerful XT variant, though it may not outperform the RX 7700 XT in raw performance.

AMD promotes the RX 7700 as a strong contender for modern gaming at 1440p resolutions, claiming that users can expect to achieve over 60 frames per second (FPS) in demanding titles such as Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Hogwarts Legacy, Resident Evil 4, and Spider-Man 2 when using ultra settings. On the power consumption front, it’s rated with a Total Board Power (TBP) of 263W, which is 18W higher than the RX 7700 XT.

Currently, ASRock stands as the sole AMD partner to introduce a custom edition of the Radeon RX 7700, called the RX 7700 Challenger 16GB. This model operates with a game clock of 2041 MHz and features a boost clock that can reach up to 2459 MHz. While details about the reference clock speeds remain unclear, the non-overclocked nature of the RX 7700 CL indicates that its boost clock should align with the reference specifications. This GPU comes equipped with dual 8-pin power connectors and showcases a dual-slot, dual-fan design, matching the reference design’s length of 267mm.
In tandem with the RX 7700 launch, AMD has released the latest Adrenalin Edition 25.9.2 driver, ensuring comprehensive driver support for the new GPU. This update not only fixes several bugs but also introduces support for the game Dying Light: The Beast, enhancing the gaming experience for users with this latest hardware.
