In line with its commitment to enhance system performance, ASRock has initiated the distribution of a new BIOS update for its AM5 motherboards, aimed at bolstering overall stability.
ASRock Launches Beta BIOS Version 4.0.7. AS01 for AM5 Motherboards: Targeting Boot Failures and Memory Compatibility Enhancements
The latest BIOS rollout from ASRock, now available in beta, is a direct response to the reported issues with Ryzen 9000 series CPU failures on their AM5 motherboards. Recognizing the urgency of this situation, ASRock has partnered with AMD to investigate and alleviate these failures, which have reportedly surfaced frequently, with counts reaching up to five incidents in a single day.
Specifically, the ASRock 800 series motherboards, with models like the X870 PRO RS, have been at the forefront of failure reports, alongside some complaints from users of the 600 series. To address these significant concerns, ASRock introduces BIOS version 4.0.7. AS01, incorporating AMD’s AGESA 1.3.0.0a firmware to enhance system stability.
ASRock has maintained a strong, enduring collaboration with AMD, continuously addressing recently identified CPU-related challenges by engaging with users across online platforms. Through concerted efforts, AMD has delivered AGESA 1.3.0.0a, which aims to improve the versatility of the platform. ASRock has finalized the integration of this update and has released the Beta BIOS version 4.0.7. AS01 on its official site. The key enhancements associated with this BIOS update are:
- Upgraded AGESA to ComboAM5 PI 1.3.0.0a.
- Improved Memory Compatibility.
- Resolution of boot failures occurring in specific CPU configurations.
This BIOS update is particularly crafted to rectify no-boot scenarios experienced by some users, especially those whose systems fail to start after prolonged use. Users encountering these symptoms are strongly advised to update to this BIOS version to restore the usual boot functionality.

According to the release notes, the beta BIOS is specifically designed to enhance memory optimization and address the boot failures reported with certain CPUs, predominantly the Ryzen 9000 series. Notably, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D has experienced the highest failure rates on ASRock’s platforms, yet its failure rate is reportedly comparable to other non-X3D models. As such, users are encouraged to proceed with the BIOS update to alleviate these issues.
While it remains uncertain whether this update will completely eliminate the risk of CPU failures, it is hoped that it will significantly reduce the occurrence of such problems.
