Artem Chigvintsev Expresses “Incredible Relief” as Domestic Violence Charges Dismissed During Nikki Garcia Divorce

Artem Chigvintsev, a professional dancer on Dancing With the Stars, recently opened up about his arrest for domestic violence and his ensuing divorce from Nikki Garcia after a two-year marriage. Chigvintsev was taken into custody last month for felony domestic abuse; however, prosecutors opted not to file charges due to insufficient evidence.

In a statement given to E! News on September 25, Chigvintsev expressed his relief regarding the situation.

“I am incredibly relieved and grateful that the domestic violence charges against me have been dropped. This has been an extremely difficult time for me,”he stated.

Chigvintsev, who is Nikki Garcia’s ex-husband, expressed gratitude for the truth prevailing in this situation.

He was arrested on August 29 for felony domestic violence after police reported visible injuries on the victim, who has requested anonymity. As per reports, Chigvintsev posted a bail of $25,000 and was released the same day.

Napa District Attorney Allison Haley noted in a press release on Tuesday that while every domestic violence case is taken “seriously,”charges can only be filed when substantial evidence is present. In Chigvintsev’s case, after extensive review, there was not enough evidence, leading to the charges being dropped.

Following his arrest for the alleged domestic violence incident, Nikki Garcia filed for divorce on September 11 in Napa Valley, as reported by People. This was just two weeks after Chigvintsev’s arrest.

Moreover, Garcia has reportedly ceased wearing the emerald engagement ring gifted by the DWTS star; she was spotted multiple times without the ring.

While Nikki Garcia has remained silent regarding the details of the domestic violence incident and their divorce, Artem Chigvintsev has recently spoken about the dissolution of their marriage. He emphasized in his conversation with E! News that his primary focus has always been, and will remain, on their four-year-old son, Matteo. He stated:

“All along, my main concern has been for him. I am committed to continuing to provide him with love, support, and care he needs as we move forward.”

The Dancing With the Stars professional expressed his desire for an “equal custody arrangement,”sharing his hopes to achieve this. He also conveyed his “deepest gratitude”for his family, friends, and legal team who supported him “during this challenging time.”He recognized their invaluable support, thanking them for their faith in him and their understanding of “the truth for what it was.”

Chigvintsev concluded his statement by reaffirming his commitment to his son and expressed anticipation for “moving past this chapter and focusing on what truly matters,”which he highlighted as being “the best father”to Matteo.
