Argentinian Journalist Paula Varela Claims CCTV Footage Captures Liam Payne’s Fatal Hotel Balcony Fall

Argentinian journalist Paula Varela has reportedly disclosed new insights regarding the circumstances surrounding Liam Payne’s demise during a live broadcast. As the host of Socios del Espectaculo on Canal 13, a television station in Buenos Aires, Varela asserted that CCTV footage from the hotel captured the moment of Payne’s collapse.

She detailed that the currently withheld footage shows the One Direction member fainting on the balcony moments before he plummeted. In her own words:

“The footage, which hasn’t been shared with the public, reveals that Liam fainted. Tragically, given his location, he fell from the balcony. Had he been near his bed, he would have landed safely on it.”

Regardless of whether the footage exists, it has not been made accessible to the public at this time.

Investigation Launched into Hotel Staff Interactions with Liam Payne

Varela’s statements indicate that Liam Payne’s fall from the balcony of his Buenos Aires hotel room was not a premeditated act. This aligns with the earlier comments made by prosecutors, who suggested he was likely in a “semi or total unconscious”state during a drug-induced incident when he fell, as reported by Mirror UK.

Additionally, Varela claimed that a member of the hotel staff, who allegedly had developed a close rapport with Payne, is under investigation. Reports indicate that this staff member did not adhere to hotel protocols prohibiting the delivery of items to Payne’s room, as they allegedly arranged for a car for the singer via a taxi application. This situation is now under scrutiny to determine what materials were “transferred in that vehicle.”

According to Varela, this staff member has been suspended from their position at the hotel. In the last few days before his tragic incident, Payne was residing at the Casa Sur Hotel located in the Palermo district.

As detailed by the BBC, though Liam Payne documented many aspects of his holiday on Snapchat—including meals, his polo plans, and humorous remarks about his hair—the Casa Sur Hotel was notably absent from his posts.

Payne had traveled to Argentina in late September 2024 for vacation with his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, who returned to Florida just two days prior to his unfortunate fall.

On October 2, the singer was seen at a concert for his former One Direction bandmate, Niall Horan, where attendees captured him dancing and enjoying the performance.

Emergency Services Contacted Prior to the Incident

Furthermore, the BBC reported that on the evening of Liam Payne’s death, hotel staff reached out to emergency services twice. The initial call, made at 5:00 PM local time, requested assistance for a guest believed to be “overwhelmed by drugs and alcohol,”who was causing damage in his room.

A few minutes later, a front desk manager placed a second call, expressing concerns for the guest’s well-being:

“I can’t confirm if the guest’s life is in jeopardy, but he has access to a balcony, and we have concerns he might do something harmful.”

Reports suggest Payne fell from his balcony at approximately 5:07 PM. The 31-year-old was located on the third floor, with the balcony sitting about 14 meters (45 feet) above the interior courtyard of the hotel.

Upon the arrival of local police, hotel staff informed them of hearing a loud noise from the courtyard, where Payne’s body was later found.

Emergency Services declared the singer deceased on the scene, noting there was “no possibility of resuscitation.”

A petition was initiated on Change.org on October 22, advocating for a permanent memorial for Liam Payne in Wolverhampton, his hometown, to ensure “he is remembered for generations.”Currently, it has garnered over 3,400 signatures.
