ARC Raiders presents players with numerous challenges, with rival players being a significant threat. However, the primary dangers lie within the ARCs themselves. These robotic adversaries vary in size and capability, each posing unique challenges and often becoming quite bothersome during gameplay.
This guide aims to identify the most troublesome ARCs, particularly those you’ll frequently encounter while navigating Topside, along with strategies for effectively handling them. Before diving into the specifics, it’s crucial to note that avoiding confrontation with ARCs whenever possible is often the best tactic. Employing stealth to bypass these threats can conserve precious resources and prevent unwanted attention from both ARCs and other players, which might lead to a regrettable return to Speranza.
ARC Raiders Guide: Identify and Conquer the Most Challenging ARCs
Wasps and Hornets

Wasps and Hornets often patrol in close proximity, making it practical to discuss them together. Though their names might sound unthreatening, they can swiftly overpower unsuspecting players, particularly when they strike as a team.Wasps come armed with light machine guns that can inflict rapid damage, but they are the easier target due to their exposed thrusters.
To disable a Wasp, you need to shoot only two of its four thrusters; this tactic is particularly effective when facing multiple opponents. However, Hornets have added complications as their frontal thrusters are armored. To counteract this, you can first aim for their armor to reveal the thrusters beneath, but ideally, aim for the thrusters directly to save yourself from a potentially disastrous direct encounter.
Hornets utilize an electric shock weapon that can incapacitate you, so if you find yourself engaged with one, timing your shots is crucial. If a Hornet targets you, shooting right before it fires can momentarily disrupt its aim, providing you with a chance to escape.
In addition to targeting their thrusters, consider using sticky grenades when they hover directly in front of you. This method can prove highly effective in dealing damage or even eliminating them completely. The duo of Wasps and Hornets poses a notable threat due to their ability to quickly combine their attacks, so make swift and strategic moves to ensure your survival.
Pop and Fireballs

Pops and Fireballs represent another frustrating category of ARCs. Although they do not typically patrol together like the Wasps and Hornets, they often inhabit the same zones and utilize overlapping tactics to keep the pressure on players. When they lock onto a target, their only goal is to rush you relentlessly.
Pops are particularly dangerous as they will detonate themselves upon getting close to you. Surviving one or even two Paps is possible, but being swarmed by more than that can quickly become fatal. Your best strategy is to scout for them before they notice you. If you possess a weapon capable of taking them out from a distance, fire away; otherwise, utilize grenades or mines to eliminate them safely.
Fireballs add another layer of complexity as they boast armor that can repel lighter weaponry. When in their spherical form, their weak point lies at their exposed core, which you must hit to bring them down quickly. If you miss this core shot, their protective stance makes them invulnerable to most attacks, followed by a powerful flamethrower assault when they close the distance, leaving devastation in their wake.
Having grenades or mines ready for surprise attacks is critical. Should you find yourself firing weapons, ensure they utilize Medium or Heavy ammo to maximize your damage potential. Light ammo will likely falter against Fireball armor, while inadvertently letting Pops explode can inflict substantial health damage.
Rocketeers

Unlike some noisier ARCs, such as Snitches, Rocketeers can spot you from afar, which amplifies their threat level dramatically. Equipped with devastating missiles, they can decimate your health in a matter of moments. Like other ARCs, stealth and surprise are essential in combating Rocketeers effectively.
Utilizing sticky grenades, such as Trigger Nades or Snap Blast grenades, can maximize your chances of taking a Rocketeer down. A key tactic is to launch these explosives at their exposed thrusters while being ready to find cover. Engaging them in the open is perilous due to their rapid missile fire and strong armor, so plan your ambush wisely.
Shredders

The Shredders live up to their ominous name. Unlike other ARCs that might explode, Shredders aggressively advance and unleash a barrage of shrapnel that can decimate your health and shields. Encountering these threats is restricted to the Stella Montis region, which further complicates matters as they thrive in confined spaces where evasion is challenging.
Their armor presents considerable hindrance, making them difficult to defeat solely through firepower. Once again, grenades emerge as your strongest asset here. Once you engage a Shredder, having multiple grenades on standby is wise, as one typically isn’t sufficient.
Pay attention to the Shredder’s behavior; it must pause to charge its shrapnel attack, presenting the perfect opportunity for you to strike with a grenade aimed at its thrusters.
Leapers

Finally, we address the Leapers. These colossal, armored ARCs prove exceptionally tough adversaries due to their robust defenses and significant size. Achieving victory against them through traditional weaponry can be frustrating.
Once more, your go-to strategy involves grenades—specifically, Blaze Grenades. Employing at least two in quick succession is typically necessary for a successful takedown when you can catch one by surprise. If detected, prepare for the Leaper’s jump attack; when they land, they pause to prepare an attack, giving you a brief window to throw another grenade while they are vulnerable. A powerful weapon utilizing Heavy ammo will be necessary to finish the job once the grenades run out.
