Ara: History Untold 2.0 – The Revolutions Update is Coming Soon
Since its debut last year, Ara: History Untold has undergone significant enhancements through a series of major updates designed to refine various gameplay systems. This evolution includes the introduction of official modding support and substantial improvements to the economy, AI, map generation, and combat mechanics. The upcoming release of the most extensive update to date, titled Ara: History Untold 2.0 or the Revolutions Update, is highly anticipated.
New Cultural and Influence Mechanics
Today, Stardock Entertainment and Oxide Games have officially announced the details of this transformative update. The most notable feature is the integration of new Culture and Influence systems into the gameplay. Cities will now generate Culture as a quality-of-life metric, which in turn produces Influence—a new currency that players can utilize to acquire cultural traits and expand their territories without relying solely on military might.
Brad Wardell, CEO of Stardock and Oxide, expressed enthusiasm about this new direction, stating, “We’re really excited to bring Culture as a game mechanic into Ara. The role of ‘soft power’ cannot be overstated. While military conquest remains the most direct way of expanding one’s territory, we really wanted to give players other means of expanding their control of the world. This is especially true in the late game when the explore and expand parts of the game have reached their maximum.”
Introducing Agitators and Historical Units
Among the exciting new features is the introduction of Agitators, a unique type of unit available from the Renaissance age. These units empower players to instigate rebellions in foreign territories and seize control of them. Additionally, historical units tied to different nations will now be affiliated with each faction, featuring renowned warriors like the Mongol Horse Archers and Japanese Samurai.
Enhanced Gameplay Features
The Revolutions Update will also bring various adjustments to leader mechanics, including traits and abilities, along with smarter stockpile management and improved priority controls. Enhanced AI and map generation capabilities are on the roster as well, alongside a newly designed scalable UI optimized for modern displays. All of these changes aim to elevate the overall gaming experience.
Availability and Launch Timeline
Players interested in exploring these new features can participate in the preview program available on Steam. If all goes according to plan, the Ara: History Untold Revolutions Update is scheduled for widespread release to all PC players via Steam, Microsoft Store, and Game Pass on September 24.
