In just under a month since its launch, the historical grand strategy title, Ara: History Untold, developed by Oxide Games and published by Microsoft, is set to unveil its first significant content update.
According to a post on Xbox Wire, the 1.1 version, dubbed the Invisible Hand update, will introduce a range of exciting features, including the initial phase of mod support. This update will enable players to modify game files for their own use. In future updates, Oxide aims to enhance this feature by facilitating mod sharing and management, along with integrating mod functionality directly into the game.
Another notable enhancement included in version 1.1 is the introduction of the Earth Map. As stated by Oxide:
Designed with gameplay balance in mind, the continents have been proportioned to allow each nation ample space to operate. This map not only injects historical richness into the gameplay but also ensures equitable conditions for all participants, thereby avoiding significant geographical advantages for any specific nation.
Further updates in forthcoming versions are planned to enrich the Earth Map by introducing additional nations.
The version 1.1 update will also feature a battle viewer, which will enhance players’ understanding of military engagements in Ara. This tool will illustrate the combat dynamics between various unit types. Oxide has indicated intentions to enhance the battle viewer with more functionalities over time. Additionally, for the first time, players will be able to upgrade individual units.
To assist players with resource management, the update will include a National Economy screen, enabling better organization of a nation’s crafting and supply strategies.
Version 1.1 will bring over twelve new amenities, introduce a new historical character (Canada’s first prime minister, John A. Macdonald), and implement a new advisory system designed to provide players with real-time assistance. Specific release details for the 1.1 update for Ara have yet to be announced.
