Apple’s Upcoming HomePod with Display Set for Mass Production

Well-respected Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently shared on social media that Apple’s anticipated HomePod featuring a display is slated to enter mass production following the conclusion of this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).Kuo reiterated previous claims from three months ago, indicating that the production timeline for this innovative device has been pushed from the initial forecast of Q1 2025 to Q3 2025.

Rumored Features and Development Delays

The upcoming HomePod may serve as a smart home hub, incorporating an iPad-like display situated atop a speaker unit. This product has faced numerous production delays attributed to various factors, such as software development challenges and the absence of advanced Siri capabilities.

Integration with New Operating System Updates

Furthermore, Kuo suggested that the delays may not solely stem from internal Apple Intelligence. The company appears to be undertaking a significant user interface revamp across its operating systems, including iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. This comprehensive update, expected to coincide with the release of iOS 19, is likely influencing the timeline for the release of the next-generation HomePod.

“Beyond Apple Intelligence, the issues also involve ensuring the HomePod’s interface aligns with new OS updates (like iOS 19) set to roll out across other devices in 2H25. This alignment is essential for seamlessly integrating new products into Apple’s ecosystem, ”Kuo stated in a post on X.

Market Potential

Kuo estimates that Apple could sell approximately 500, 000 units of the HomePod during the latter half of 2025. This could imply a strategic revival of the HomePod line, similar to how the Apple Watch evolved from a mere iPhone accessory to a key player in health technology.

Broader Smart Home Initiatives

With speculation surrounding the Apple Car dissipating, Apple seems focused on enhancing its smart home ecosystem. The company is reportedly developing additional smart display devices equipped with robotic arms and exploring various advancements in home robotics.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has also reported that Apple is in the process of creating a smart doorbell that features Face ID technology for secure door unlocking.
