Apple’s Upcoming Foldable iPhone Design Inspired by Dual iPhone Air Models, Priced Over $2,000

Apple is set to unveil its highly anticipated foldable iPhone, scheduled for release in 2026. This bold innovation promises to be the most revolutionary device the tech giant has ever crafted, incorporating a sleek design inspired by the recently introduced iPhone Air. The foldable iPhone will feature a robust titanium frame, ensuring outstanding durability, with an expected retail price exceeding $2, 000. This upcoming model is positioned not only as Apple’s thinnest and priciest offering but also as a glimpse into the future of the iPhone product line.

Introduction of Apple’s Foldable iPhone in 2026: Ultra-thin Titanium Design with Price Tag Above $2, 000

In his recent Power On newsletter, Mark Gurman divulged that the innovative design of the foldable iPhone closely mirrors two ultra-thin iPhone Airs placed adjacent to each other. When closed, it will maintain the familiar shape of a traditional iPhone, while unfolding reveals a larger display surface, resulting in a sophisticated and user-friendly device for Apple enthusiasts. Importantly, this first iteration in the foldable smartphone market is intended to compete on design without veering into the bulky territory of early models like the original Galaxy Fold.

“As for how the foldable iPhone will look, I am increasingly told that users should imagine two titanium iPhone Airs side-by-side. In other words, it’s going to be super thin and a design achievement.”

Gurman also indicates that early price predictions suggest a starting point of at least $2, 000, with some estimates even indicating a range between $2, 100 and $2, 300, marking it as the priciest iPhone released to date. This initial foldable model doesn’t aim for mass appeal; instead, it is crafted to showcase Apple’s top-tier design and engineering capabilities. This strategy is similar to their approach with the Vision Pro, where Apple gauged industry response before evolving the product line. Furthermore, production for the foldable iPhone is expected to primarily take place in China, leveraging Apple’s extensive experience in handling intricate devices. Although the company has sought to diversify its supply chain, the complexity associated with new technologies likely means relying on established partners for production.

While there were earlier speculations about shifting some manufacturing to India, the specifics of what new devices may be included in those plans remain to be seen. The anticipated launch period is set for fall 2026, coinciding with the unveiling of the iPhone 18 lineup. However, as this marks a brand-new product category for Apple, consumers might see a delay into October or November. This foldable iPhone is not simply an addition to Apple’s ever-growing product range; rather, it symbolizes the company’s ambition to revolutionize the smartphone experience and validate that foldable technology can deliver more than just a passing trend.
