Apple’s Technology To Update An iPhone To The Latest iOS Version Without Opening The Box Expected To Arrive Next Month
The long-awaited iPhone 16 lineup from Apple is set to be revealed in September of this year, featuring a plethora of design options for the standard model. In preparation for the launch, Apple has been developing a new system that will enable employees to wirelessly update an iPhone without having to open the packaging. This means that customers will receive their device with the most recent version already installed, making the process effortless for employees and ensuring that users have the latest update right from the start.
Apple Store Employees to Gain Access to “Presto”Technology for iPhone Updates Without Packaging Opening
According to prominent analyst Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, Apple has developed a new technology called “Presto”that will allow iPhones to be updated without being opened. This innovative feature utilizes MagSafe and other wireless tools. Gurman reports that Apple intends to launch the technology next month and will make it available in all their stores across the United States by early summer.
The technology’s launch schedule indicates that Apple intends for “Presto”to be released prior to the launch of the iPhone 16. It should be noted that the technology will be compatible not only with the upcoming models, but also with current iPhone models sold by Apple, which can be easily updated wirelessly. It is worth mentioning that the analyst had initially mentioned the technology last year as a pad-like device, designed for updating the firmware of a sealed iPhone box.
The technology operates in a straightforward manner: by powering on the device contained within the box, upgrading the software to the most recent version, and then powering it off once again. As it is dependent on MagSafe, the technology is currently only compatible with the iPhone, as no other product currently utilizes a similar mechanism. While MagSafe technology is also present in Apple’s MacBooks, the implementation differs significantly from that of the iPhone.
The new technology, created by Apple, aims to prevent the sale of iPhone models with outdated software. Currently, users are required to manually update their new iPhone models to the latest version. This also enables Apple to address any software issues before the device is released for sale, as seen with the launch of the iPhone 15. We will provide updates on the functionality of this technology as soon as more information becomes available.
