Apple’s OLED iPad Pro And iPad Air Delayed To Launch In May Due To “Complex New Manufacturing Techniques”

Despite previous expectations for a March or April release, Apple is facing difficulties with the launch of its new OLED iPad Pro, as the company has announced a one-month delay. This delay follows last year’s lack of a new iPad announcement, indicating that Apple will once again take its time before unveiling the updated iPad models. The company is now expected to reveal the much-anticipated iPad Pro with an OLED display in May.

Rumored OLED iPad Pro and iPad Air release date set for May, ahead of WWDC 2024

Apple has recently announced that it will be holding its WWDC 2024 event on June 10, during which it will reveal its latest software updates for the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Vision Pro, and other products. This news comes after the company’s decision to launch their new OLED iPad Pro models just a month before the WWDC event. This information was shared by well-known analyst Mark Gurman, who had previously predicted that the new iPad Pro models would be unveiled either by the end of this month or in April.

The upcoming updated versions of the iPad Pro will introduce significant updates, such as an OLED display, a redesigned appearance, and potentially MagSafe capabilities. The device will also feature the company’s latest M3 chip for improved computing and graphics capabilities. The most noteworthy aspect of this upgrade is that it will eliminate the display disparity between the two models, resulting in both the 11-inch and 13-inch versions having an OLED display.

In addition to the new features, Gurman reports that Apple’s suppliers are increasing production. The initial plan was to launch the new iPad in March or April, but the delay is a result of the intricate new manufacturing methods. This is understandable as the company is creating the device from scratch. Despite this, the company is finalizing the software for the new models, potentially incorporating exclusive features.

Besides the release of the OLED iPad Pro, Apple has plans to unveil upgraded versions of the iPad Air with improved internal components. There is also speculation that both the iPad Air and iPad Pro models will include Face ID and a front camera positioned in landscape mode instead of portrait mode like the current models. We will provide updates on the new timeline, so stay tuned.
