Global Launch of Apple Music Transfer Tool
Apple has officially rolled out its highly anticipated music transfer tool globally, allowing users to seamlessly import their song collections from a variety of other streaming platforms. While the feature is now broadly accessible, it notably excludes users in mainland China, Myanmar, and Russia.
This innovative tool enables Apple Music subscribers to transition their playlists and albums from services such as Spotify, YouTube Music, Amazon Prime Music, Tidal, and Deezer without the hassle of extra app installations. Unlike Apple’s “Move to iOS” tool, no additional applications are required, making the process straightforward even for those without Apple hardware.
How to Use the Transfer Tool
Accessing the music transfer feature is user-friendly. You’ll need an active Apple Music subscription with library syncing enabled. It can be utilized on various devices, including iPhones, iPads, Android phones, and via the web. The transfer functionality is powered by a third-party service called SongShift, ensuring an efficient experience.
To initiate the transfer on an iPhone or iPad, simply navigate to Settings > Apps > Music
and look for the “Transfer Music from Other Services”option. For Android users, tap on the “More”button (depicted as three dots) within the Apple Music app. If using the web version, click your profile picture in the top right corner, and choose the “Transfer Music”option.
What to Expect During the Transfer
Once you select one of the supported streaming services and hit “Add to Library, ”the tool will take some time to match songs and playlists to those available in Apple Music. If discrepancies arise—in the case of unmatchable songs—the tool will prompt you to either review them or consider alternative options. Users are granted a 30-day window to address unmatched songs and can only commence another transfer once this initial process is completed.
It’s crucial to note that while playlists can be copied over, those created specifically by the original service will not be included in the transfer. Additionally, the songs and playlists stored on other platforms remain unaffected, ensuring that your music library on various services remains intact and unchanged.
Enhancing Apple Music’s Cross-Platform Features
The introduction of this transfer tool enhances Apple Music’s existing features aimed at improving cross-platform support. Just last year, Apple provided a tool to facilitate playlist transfers to YouTube Music and introduced share options for TikTok, demonstrating a commitment to enhance user experience across multiple applications.
Moreover, in recent months, Apple Music has witnessed the rollout of innovative features, including the Sound Therapy collection, a newly curated Viral Chart playlist, Dolby Atmos compatibility for Windows, plus integration with leading DJ software and hardware.
