Apple Introduces AirPods Pro 3: A Leap Forward in Wireless Earbud Technology

Apple has officially unveiled the latest iteration of its renowned wireless earbuds, the AirPods Pro 3, during the much-anticipated ‘Awe Dropping’ event. This release comes three years after the debut of the AirPods Pro 2, which hit the market in September 2022.

Unrivaled Active Noise Cancellation

The tech giant touts the AirPods Pro 3 as featuring the best Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) technology found in any in-ear wireless headphones. Apple claims that the ANC capability in the new model is twice as effective as that of the AirPods Pro 2 and four times better than the original AirPods, promising an immersive listening experience.

Innovative Health Tracking Features

A standout feature of the AirPods Pro 3 is the introduction of heart rate tracking. Equipped with Apple’s latest custom-built heart rate sensor, the device employs a sophisticated “photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor”that measures light absorption in blood flow by emitting infrared light at 256 pulses per second.

These earbuds are designed for fitness enthusiasts, supporting the tracking of over 50 different workout types. Users can monitor their heart rate, calories burned, and progress towards their fitness goals, all accessible through the Apple Fitness+ platform.

Interactive Workout Assistance

The Workout Buddy feature, powered by Apple Intelligence, further enhances the user experience. It delivers audio feedback based on your workout data and personal fitness history, providing tailored motivational insights throughout your training sessions.

Real-Time Language Translation

Another exciting addition is the Live Translation feature, which utilizes Apple’s computational audio capabilities. This allows for real-time language translation while engaging in conversations, making it particularly useful for travelers and professionals working with international clients.

Users can engage naturally in conversation while utilizing their iPhone as a display for live transcription. This feature works best when both participants are using their AirPods, enhancing the collaborative experience. Currently in beta, Live Translation supports English, French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish, with additional languages including Italian, Japanese, Korean, and simplified Chinese set to be added by year-end.

Enhanced Battery Life and Durability

Apple has also significantly upgraded the battery life of the AirPods Pro 3, now providing up to 8 hours of usage on a single charge with ANC activated. For users utilizing hearing aids, battery life can extend to 10 hours when in transparency mode.

To cater to varying user needs, the AirPods Pro 3 boasts an IP57 rating for sweat and water resistance, coupled with newly designed foam-infused ear tips available in five sizes, including an innovative XXS option.

Redesigned for Comfort and Fit

The design of the AirPods Pro 3 has undergone a significant transformation, with Apple leveraging data from over 10, 000 ear scans and more than 100, 000 hours of user research to refine the fit. The company explains:

To deliver this improved fit for even more people, the internal architecture was completely re-engineered to make each AirPod smaller, while the external geometry of the ear tip was aligned to the center of the body for increased stability — a design informed by an unparalleled dataset of more than 300 million points.

Availability and Pricing

Prospective buyers can now pre-order the AirPods Pro 3 at a price of $249 in the US and across 50 other countries, with shipments slated to commence on September 19.
