Apple reveals AirPods Pro 3 repair costs

Introducing the Apple AirPods Pro 3: Enhanced Features and Repair Insights

This week, Apple has finally unveiled its much-anticipated AirPods Pro 3, marking a significant upgrade from previous models. These new wireless earbuds boast exciting advancements, including a heart rate sensor, refined active noise cancellation, and extended battery life with each charge, catering to fitness enthusiasts and casual users alike.

Notably, while the pricing remains consistent with last year’s model, the AirPods Pro 3 no longer come with a charging cable in the box. Apple highlights the earbuds’ ability to support 50 different workout activities through a combination of sophisticated sensors, paired with a newly introduced AI-driven assistant named Workout Buddy.

However, as users don their AirPods during workouts or outdoor activities, concerns about durability naturally arise. Whether you’re curious about repair costs or need to replace a lost earbud, it’s essential to stay informed.

Understanding Repair Costs for AirPods Pro 3

Apple has recently updated its online price estimation tool to provide insights into repair charges for the AirPods Pro 3, which coincides with new estimates for the iPhone Air and iPhone 17 series. Here’s a summary of the estimated out-of-warranty repair costs across different AirPods Pro versions:

Note: Apple may adjust these costs in the future.

Service Type AirPods Pro 3 AirPods Pro 2 (USB-C) AirPods Pro 1 (MagSafe)
Battery Replacement $49 per AirPod, $49 for the case $49 per AirPod, $49 for the case $49 per AirPod, $49 for MagSafe case

For customers enrolled in an AppleCare+ or AppleCare One plan, the cost of repairs is minimized, allowing for unlimited repairs for incidents such as drops or spills, subject to a $29 service fee. Additionally, the pricing outlined pertains to individual AirPods (left or right) or a charging case. Those under AppleCare only need to pay a single incident fee for replacing one or both AirPods, regardless of whether the charging case is included.
