Apple Music for Windows now offers collaborative playlist support

In the past year, Apple unveiled an upgraded version of the Apple Music app specifically for Windows users. This revamped application aimed to enhance the user experience, bringing it in line with what users find on other platforms. Although the initial rollout was missing some essential functionalities, Apple has been actively working on updates to integrate these features.

Not long after the initial release, Apple enhanced the app by introducing support for native media keys as well as lyrics functionality. This year, users gained access to a Favorites Songs playlist and manual equalizer settings. Most recently, another update was released through the Microsoft Store, adding three noteworthy improvements.

This update introduces collaborative playlists on Apple Music for Windows, enabling users to invite friends to contribute to playlists, where they can add tracks, make reactions, and adjust the song order collaboratively. Furthermore, album artwork now extends across the entire screen, offering a richer auditory experience. Lastly, a new Column Browser allows users to swiftly navigate through their song library.

For those wanting to enjoy lyrics in full-screen mode, simply access the three-dot menu and select “Fullscreen player”or press the Ctrl+Shift+F shortcut.

While these enhancements are appreciated, the Windows version of Apple Music is still missing several critical features, including Dolby Atmos support and detailed word-by-word lyrics. Additionally, there are some bugs to note, such as erratic media controls on the lock screen. It is hoped that Apple will address these issues and enhance performance before rolling out further updates. Despite these limitations, Apple Music on Windows is showing promising signs of improvement. With ongoing updates, it could evolve into a strong contender in the music streaming arena on this platform.

To get the latest version of the Apple Music app for Windows, you can download it from the Microsoft Store. New users of Apple Music can benefit from a complimentary trial period of one month. With a subscription, you’ll have access to millions of tracks and can enjoy them both online and offline. Features include the ability to create custom playlists, stream and download Lossless and Dolby Atmos music, receive tailored music recommendations, check out what friends are listening to, follow favorite artists, view exclusive video content, and much more.
