Apple M4 MacBook Pro packaging highlights several important upgrades

Recent reports indicate that Apple is preparing to refresh the MacBook Pro lineup with the new M4 chipset. In addition to the M4 MacBook Pro, Apple may also unveil updates for the iPad Mini, Mac mini, iMac, and the 11th generation iPad.

Rumors suggest that Apple is set to release both 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models equipped with the M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max chipsets. While significant design changes for the upcoming M4 MacBook Pros are not anticipated, new packaging leaks reveal several unexpected enhancements.

According to the leak (via ShrimpApplePro), the new M4 MacBook Pro will feature 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage, confirming earlier speculations regarding the RAM capacity. Moreover, the packaging leak indicates that the entry-level M4 MacBook Pro will be powered by a 10-core CPU alongside a 10-core GPU. In comparison, the current M3 MacBook Pro is equipped with an 8-core CPU and a 10-core GPU.

A significant highlight from the latest leak is that the M4 MacBook Pros will include three Thunderbolt 4 ports, whereas the current base model only comes with two Thunderbolt ports.

The specifications also include “SPB/10C CPU/10C GPU/16GB/512GB.”Here, “SPB”signifies Space Black on MacBook packaging, while silver uses “SLV.”This also indicates that the base MacBook Pro will be available in Space Black instead of Space Gray as seen in previous models.

One user on X pointed out an intriguing detail within the leak: it contains a QR code that directs users to learn more about the MacBook—a feature that Apple has begun implementing with the iPhone 16 release. Additionally, the packaging mentions “Apple ID,”which further supports its potential authenticity.

For now, we advise treating any information derived from this leak with skepticism, as it could easily be faked.
