Apple launches initial iOS 18.2 beta packed with enhanced Apple Intelligence features

Today marks the launch of the initial developer beta for iOS 18.2, reflecting Apple’s ongoing commitment to enhancing its platform with advanced Apple Intelligence functionalities announced during WWDC this past June.

This update features innovative tools such as Genmoji and Image Playground for image creation, alongside the integration of ChatGPT into Siri and various Writing Tools throughout iOS applications. A significant enhancement is the expanded accessibility of Apple Intelligence, now supporting additional English dialects from regions like Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, and the United Kingdom.

For users situated in regions not listed, a workaround to access Apple Intelligence features is to switch the device’s setting to US English in iOS 18.1 or choose any other English variant starting with iOS 18.2. It is important to note that support for select non-English languages will commence in the coming year; however, these features remain disabled in China and the EU due to regulatory restrictions.

Furthermore, iOS 18.1 is set to be released to the public next week, introducing the initial batch of Apple Intelligence functionalities exclusively in US English. This includes updates to Siri, enhanced Writing Tools, a new Clean Up feature in Photos, prioritized emails in Mail, and notification summaries.

Additionally, users with iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, or iPhone 16 Pro Max can experience Visual Intelligence. This feature can be accessed by maintaining pressure on the Camera Control while the device is locked, allowing users to gain enhanced insights into subjects captured by the camera.

Aside from Visual Intelligence, the following Apple Intelligence features will be available on various devices running iOS, iPadOS, and macOS:
