Apple is reportedly looking into making robots for the home as its next big product
The idea of a robot that could cater to all our household needs has been a popular concept in science fiction for many years. Recent news suggests that Apple may be exploring the possibility of developing a personal home robot as their next major product.
According to unnamed sources, Bloomberg has reported that Apple is conducting initial research on a potential home robot. The concept suggests that the device would accompany individuals around their homes. Additionally, the company is also considering a separate product idea involving a tabletop device with a moveable display that could replicate human movements during FaceTime calls.
The report indicates that Apple’s hardware and AI teams are currently managing this initial research. As it is still in its early stages, there is a possibility that the company may choose to discontinue this research at any point.
According to reports, this skunkworks project has been initiated in response to Apple’s cancellation of its own electric car development in early 2024. The project had been in progress for several years, although the company never publicly acknowledged its existence. Rumors suggest that the car team faced numerous challenges during this time, ultimately leading to the decision to move away from a fully autonomous vehicle and instead focus on creating a conventional, driver-operated electric car.
Undoubtedly, earlier this year, Apple released a brand new product. The Apple Vision Pro mixed reality headset was officially released in the US in February, but with a steep price of $3,499. Although the product has received many favorable reviews, it has also faced some criticism. The biggest question remains the success of the device in terms of sales, and Apple has not disclosed any numbers yet, and it may remain a mystery for a significant period of time, or possibly forever.
