Apple recently unveiled its much-anticipated “Awe Dropping” event, marking significant advancements across the iPhone 17 lineup. Notably, all models—including the sleek and ultra-lightweight iPhone Air—now feature an enhanced 120Hz ProMotion display technology. This upgrade has arrived several years after ProMotion was first introduced in the premium ‘Pro’ models, effectively leveling the playing field and adding real value to the standard variants of the iPhone.
Apple Enhances ProMotion and Doubles Base Storage, Elevating iPhone 17 Value Across All Models
In addition to the impressive 120Hz ProMotion display, Apple has taken a significant step by increasing the base storage capacity for all iPhone models to an impressive 256GB. This upgrade is a major leap for both the standard iPhone 17 and the iPhone Air, rather than being limited only to the Pro models as initially speculated.
As a result of these enhancements, the base model iPhone 17 has emerged as a compelling alternative to both the Air and Pro models. Priced similarly to its predecessor, the iPhone 16, the new iPhone 17 offers users exceptional value not only through its expanded storage but also thanks to its superior display technology. The introduction of the Always-On display feature—made possible by the new 120Hz ProMotion display—marks a first for the base model, thereby solidifying its appeal for those who seek high-performance features without opting for the pricier iPhone 17 Pro.
The iPhone 17 maintains a display size of 6.3 inches, akin to the smaller ‘Pro’ version, while being powered by the state-of-the-art A19 chip. Additionally, it boasts a larger battery capacity alongside an impressive 48MP Dual Fusion Camera system. On the front, users will find an upgraded 18MP Center Stage camera, ideal for selfies and video calls.
If you’re eager to get your hands on the iPhone 17, pre-orders are set to begin on September 12, with the official launch slated for September 19.
