In an announcement made last month, Apple revealed that the highly anticipated Apple Intelligence features would launch in October 2024 as part of the initial feature update for both iOS 18 and iPadOS 18. As we progress through October, Mark Gurman has shared insights regarding the expected release date.
According to Gurman, users with compatible iPhones, iPads, and Macs can anticipate the Apple Intelligence features to become available on October 28. However, it’s important to note that not all functionalities of Apple Intelligence will debut with iOS 18.1. Specific features, including ChatGPT integration and Genmoji, are slated for inclusion in the subsequent iOS 18.2 update. Additionally, significant enhancements to Siri are planned for iOS 18.4, projected to be released in March 2025, which will introduce improved app control and enhanced access to personal information for more accurate user responses.
Moreover, Apple intends to implement the rollout of its Apple Intelligence features in stages to effectively manage the influx of users and to maintain server stability. The new features will be accessible on the iPhone 15 Pro Series and later models, M1-powered iPads and newer versions, and Mac computers with M1 chips and later.
On the hardware front, Mark Gurman also indicates that Apple is set to reveal a variety of new devices on Friday, November 1. Expected announcements include:
- 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models equipped with the M4 chip, including a more affordable 14-inch option.
- A redesigned Mac mini featuring M4 and M4 Pro processors.
- An updated iMac powered by the M4 processor.
- The seventh generation of the iPad mini.
That isn’t the complete picture. Reports suggest that for the first half of 2025, Apple is planning to refresh its MacBook Air lineup, introducing 13-inch and 15-inch models with the M4 processor, along with a next-generation redesign of the iPhone SE. Additionally, there will be two new iPad Air variations (11-inch and 13-inch) equipped with updated accessories, as well as a new AirTag model. It is also anticipated that devices such as the Mac Studio and Mac Pro could be unveiled around mid-2025 or later in the year, coinciding with the release of the iPhone 17 Series and fresh Apple Watch models.
