Apple Watch Series 4: A Blend of Style and Functionality
Introduced in September 2018, the Apple Watch Series 4 is now officially classified as “vintage.”This designation applies to both the aluminum and stainless steel models, including the 40mm and 44mm variants. The Series 4 was notable for its sleek redesign, which encompassed a larger display with reduced bezels, bringing a more modern aesthetic to the smartwatch.
While the watch initially launched without the ECG monitoring feature, it was later integrated through a software update. With the transition to watchOS 11, the Series 4 officially lost support, marking watchOS 10 as its final available update.
2019 15-Inch MacBook Pro: The Last of Its Kind
Also added to the vintage list is the 2019 15-inch MacBook Pro, notable for being the last of the 15-inch models. This device was quickly overshadowed by the introduction of the 16-inch version later that same year, which heralded the discontinuation of Intel processors in Apple laptops. Despite its classification as vintage, users can still enjoy the latest macOS updates on this model.
Understanding Apple’s Vintage and Obsolete Product Categories
Apple designates a product as “vintage”once five years have elapsed since it ceased selling that item. Such products remain eligible for repairs at Apple and authorized service providers as long as parts are still available. In contrast, devices are classified as “obsolete”after seven years, after which they are no longer eligible for repair services.
