Apple Discontinues Powerbeats Pro; Anticipated New Model Launching Next Year

After more than five years, Apple has officially retired the Powerbeats Pro earbuds. First introduced in 2019 with a retail price of $250, the Powerbeats Pro featured nine hours of listening time on a single charge and incorporated Apple’s advanced H1 chip. These alternative, sporty earphones aimed at fitness enthusiasts are equipped with adjustable ear hooks that ensure a snug fit, alongside an IPX4 rating for sweat and water resistance.

As reported by MacRumors, Apple has provided a glimpse into the forthcoming Powerbeats Pro 2 via a teaser video, which is slated for launch next year. Given this development, it is neither practical nor wise for Apple to continue manufacturing a product that is being phased out. Furthermore, sales of the original Powerbeats Pro have significantly declined as newer Beats models become available.

Anticipated for a 2025 launch, the Powerbeats Pro 2 is expected to showcase a redesigned appearance. Notably, it is rumored to include a heart rate sensor, enabling users to monitor their heart rate and sync the data with the Apple Health app.

The upcoming earbuds are likely to retain the adjustable ear hooks seen in the previous version for a secure fit while adopting a sleeker profile. Regarding the charging case, it is suggested that the design will largely resemble that of the Powerbeats Pro, aside from featuring an updated Beats logo prominently placed in the center.

Apple is expected to offer the Powerbeats Pro 2 in several shades: Purple, Orange, and Beige. In addition, the new model is projected to come equipped with Active Noise Cancellation, Spatial Audio, and Adaptive Audio capabilities. Additional improvements may encompass enhanced audio quality, longer battery life, a USB-C charging port, and better compatibility across different platforms. While pricing details have yet to be disclosed, it is predicted that the Powerbeats Pro 2 will fall within a similar price range as the original, approximately $250 to $300.
