Apple’s Vision Pro: Next-Generation Updates on the Horizon
Apple’s inaugural foray into spatial computing—the Vision Pro, priced at $3, 499—has not met all consumer expectations. Nevertheless, emerging rumors indicate that Apple is diligently developing the next generation of this innovative headset, featuring a potentially more comfortable “Dual Knit Band”.
Recent investigations by MacRumors into Apple’s backend code revealed hints regarding this new band, suggesting it could combine elements from both existing options that accompany the current Vision Pro. This new design aims to enhance user comfort significantly.
Current Vision Pro Bands: A Quick Overview
Initially introduced in 2023 and made available for purchase in the United States in early 2024, the Vision Pro headset currently comes equipped with two distinct band styles: the Solo Knit Band and the Dual Loop Band. These bands were crafted to provide users with versatile fit options, catering to various preferences and comfort needs.
The Solo Knit Band features a single, wide strip made from 3D knitted fabric and includes an adjustable Fit Dial, allowing users to tailor the fit to their individual head shape. In contrast, the Dual Loop Band incorporates a dual-strap system offering both upper and lower straps for a precise adjustment.

Weight and Power Considerations
One notable aspect of the Vision Pro is its reliance on an external power bank, as the device lacks an internal battery. This design choice eliminates a key safety feature expected by many users and contributes to the headset’s overall weight, which can range between 600 to 650 grams (approximately 21.2 to 22.9 ounces) depending on the configuration of the Light Seal and headband.
Enhancing User Comfort with the Dual Knit Band
The anticipated Dual Knit Band is reported to have a unique design, consisting of a strap that wraps around the back of the head and an upper strap that crosses the top. This development coincides with earlier insights from industry analyst Mark Gurman, who in July indicated Apple was exploring new strap options specifically aimed at alleviating neck strain for wearers of the Vision Pro.
This is the new band I’ve been talking about. It’ll never happen but Apple should be giving this for free to every single person who has paid $3500+ for the Vision Pro.https://t.co/EHkdLSk0lc

Future Updates and Innovation
This year, the Vision Pro received a significant upgrade with the introduction of visionOS 26, which brings enhancements such as more natural Personas and Spatial Widgets. Additionally, plans for a revised Vision Pro with a reduced price tag are expected later this year. Reports also indicate that Apple is exploring options for a separate Vision Pro model that can interface seamlessly with Macs, along with a pair of augmented reality glasses reminiscent of the Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses.
