Apple Confident in iPhone Fold Success, Increases Initial Production Target by 20 Percent

Following a whirlwind week that introduced a series of significant devices, including the iPhone 17e, M4 iPad Air, M5 Pro and M5 Max MacBook Pro, and the eagerly anticipated MacBook Neo, Apple’s product launch cycle has seemingly entered a quieter phase. With this slowdown, attention is now shifting to the tech giant’s upcoming product launches slated for the fall of 2026, notably the highly anticipated iPhone Fold alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models.

Recent reports from Taiwan suggest that Apple is optimistic about the iPhone Fold’s market performance. The company’s initial production targets for this innovative device have been increased by 20 percent, signaling strong confidence among Apple executives.

Apple Boosts Initial Sales Projections for the iPhone Fold

According to the Economic Daily of Taiwan, Apple has raised its initial inventory targets for the iPhone Fold, which will benefit Foxconn, the device’s primary assembler. This revised approach comes as a result of extensive design adjustments—over 10 iterations in approximately five years—suggesting Apple’s commitment to refining the product ahead of its fall release.

In addition to production updates, a reliable tipster recently released CAD renderings of the iPhone Fold, showcasing its unique passport-like design. Speculated features for the iPhone Fold include a ‘liquid metal’ hinge paired with a durable titanium body, potentially enhancing both strength and weight balance.

The anticipated specifications reveal a wide, passport-style form factor, with the main display measuring approximately 7.7 inches and a secondary cover display of around 5.4 inches. Notably, the device is expected to feature a minimal crease of just 0.15mm, which is anticipated to be achieved using Apple’s extensively tested Ultra-thin Flexible Glass (UFG) technology and a redesigned hinge mechanism.

Additional innovative aspects include:

  1. A dedicated vapor chamber for thermal management.
  2. A resolution of 2, 713 x 1, 920 pixels, featuring a 4:3 aspect ratio.
  3. Side-mounted Touch ID in lieu of Face ID functionality.
  4. Powered by the A20 Pro SoC, complemented by 12GB of RAM and an in-house C2 5G modem.
  5. A dual-camera setup on the rear with a 48MP resolution.
  6. An in-display camera supporting resolutions up to 24MP.
  7. A battery capacity ranging from 5, 400 to 5, 800mAh.
  8. A projected H2 2026 launch.
  9. Will be launched exclusively as an eSIM variant.
  10. Expected to retail around $2, 399.
  11. Anticipated first-year shipments between 7 to 9 million units.

With these developments, Apple’s commitment to innovation and user satisfaction are evident, setting the stage for exciting advancements in their product lineup.Source&Images
