“Apparently his serve is a rocket” – Nick Kyrgios cryptically reacts to Elena Rybakina’s ace-leader stat; says someone was giving her “tips”
In response to Elena Rybakina’s impressive ace statistics, Nick Kyrgios shared a cryptic message.
As of 2024, Rybakina, the current World No. 4, holds the top spot on the WTA Tour for most aces served in matches played. In just 26 matches, the Kazakh player has impressively served a total of 181 aces.
At the 2022 Wimbledon tournament, the champion was followed closely by Karolina Pliskova, who had 157 aces in 18 matches, Caroline Garcia with 123 aces in 17 matches, Naomi Osaka with 107 aces in 13 matches, and Zheng Qinwen with 107 aces in 18 matches.
After the stat was revealed, Nick Kyrgios, known for his powerful serve in the ATP Tour, shared his thoughts through a mysterious post on social media. The Australian claimed that Rybakina received tips from someone to enhance her serve and mentioned that the individual must have had a ‘rocket’ of a serve themselves.
Rybakina’s successful season includes victories at the Brisbane International and the Abu Dhabi Open. The 24-year-old also reached the finals at the Qatar Open and the recently-concluded Miami Open.
Dominic Thiem praised by Nick Kyrgios after his victory at the Estoril Open
Despite winning the 2020 US Open and reaching the top 3 in the ATP World rankings, Dominic Thiem’s tennis career has been plagued by a wrist injury sustained at the 2021 Mallorca Championships. This injury has resulted in multiple periods of time spent on the sidelines and has significantly impacted his performance on the court.
The Austrian recently disclosed that he had experienced some minor wrist inflammation before competing at the Kiskut Open in Szekesfehervar, Hungary, a Challenger-level tournament. Despite being the top seed, Thiem was eliminated in the first round after a 3-6, 4-6 loss to Daniel Michalski.
Currently, Thiem is participating in the Estoril Open, despite his current ranking as World No. 91. In his first match at the ATP 250 tournament, the 30-year-old defeated Maximilian Marterer and is now preparing to face experienced player Richard Gasquet in the next round.
Following the Austrian’s victory against Marterer, a fan shared their excitement on social media. Kyrgios acknowledged this and replied, stating that recovering from a long-term wrist injury was a challenging feat.
“Good to see (Thiem winning again). Wrists aren’t easy!”, Kyrgios wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Kyrgios has not participated in any competitive matches since his defeat in the first round of the 2023 BOSS Open in Stuttgart.
