On October 7, renowned American rapper and singer Lizzo, known as Melissa Viviane Jefferson, shared an update regarding her weight loss journey. The Instagram post also highlighted a selection of items from her shapewear line, Yitty.
In the accompanying video, the “Truth Hurts”performer sported white track pants and a hoodie while showcasing her body transformation. She accessorized with hoop earrings and concluded the 32-second clip by sipping from a red water bottle.
The video ignited a conversation on X, with numerous fans expressing their thoughts in the comments. Reactions were mixed, with some critiquing her changes while others praised her progress. One user on X remarked:
“Still waiting for the transformation.”
Many others chimed in with their views on the platform.
“Where’s the transformation video? Is there a part 2?”asked another user.
“Lizzo, I wasn’t familiar with your game,”tweeted a different follower on X.
Despite some criticism, many fans voiced support for Lizzo, urging her to continue her journey.
“I’m honestly glad to see this transformation. She demonstrates that those struggling with obesity can achieve weight loss with dedication. I’m not usually a fan of Lizzo, but I respect her efforts,”wrote a supporter.
“If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all,”suggested another.
“I’m glad she is losing weight, but it feels a bit hypocritical about body positivity,”noted another user on X.
Previously, on September 20, Lizzo addressed online rumors surrounding her alleged use of Ozempic—a medication typically prescribed for type 2 diabetes and often utilized for rapid weight reduction.
In her video, she appeared to celebrate her achievement, mentioning the Ozempic speculations as validation of her hard work at the gym.
“When you finally get Ozempic allegations after 5 months of weight training and a calorie deficit,”Lizzo captioned a video of herself lip-syncing to the phrase “like a reward.”
In a bold Instagram announcement, Lizzo proclaimed she “QUIT”in March
On March 29, Lizzo took to Instagram stating “I QUIT,”in response to the negativity and online harassment she had been enduring. The artist expressed that the public no longer seemed to need her music.
She also shared her experiences with body shaming prevalent on social media.
“I’m fed up with being dragged by everyone around me and online. All I want is to create music and spread happiness, making the world a better place. However, I’m beginning to feel unwanted here,”the rapper stated.
Additionally, she voiced:
“Being the target of jokes due to my appearance—having my character criticized by strangers disrespecting my name—isn’t what I signed up for. I QUIT.”
Many fans interpreted her declaration of “I QUIT”as a sign that she was stepping away from music for good.
However, Lizzo clarified that “I QUIT”was about disengaging from negativity on social media. Dressed in aquamarine, she later posted a follow-up video on Instagram, stating:
“Let me clarify—when I say I quit, I refer to quitting the attention to negative energy. What I WILL NOT quit is the joy of my life: making music and connecting with all of you.”
She concluded by reassuring her fans that she would persist in creating music, regardless of the backlash.
