The renowned K-pop girl group GFRIEND is set to reunite in January 2025 to celebrate their 10th anniversary, much to the delight of fans globally. According to a report from Joy News 24 on September 24, the group is collaborating with Source Music, a subsidiary of HYBE LABELS, to create a special project for their dedicated fanbase. Despite their previous disbandment, GFRIEND has maintained a positive relationship with the agency where they made their debut.
In May 2021, GFRIEND officially disbanded after the expiration of their contract. This abrupt end to their activities sparked significant discussions on social media, leaving many fans heartbroken.
Recently, the management company confirmed the exciting reunion project through an official announcement, marking the group’s first endeavor together in three years. Fans are eagerly anticipating this monumental occasion.
As reported by My Daily on September 24, Source Music stated,
“Next January, GFRIEND will be meeting fans with a project to celebrate their 10th debut anniversary. This project came to fruition thanks to the members’ wishes to give Buddies a precious memory. We ask for your great anticipation and support.”

GFRIEND, a six-member girl group, debuted under Source Music in January 2015 with their mini album *Season of Glass*, featuring the title track *Glass Bead*. The members include leader Sowon, Yerin, Eunha, Yuju, SinB, and the youngest member, Umji. The group quickly gained recognition for their impressive vocals and synchronized choreography.
They left a lasting impact on fans with chart-topping hits such as *Me Gustas Tu*, *Rough*, *NAVILLERA*, *MAGO*, and more. Following the announcement of their disbandment in May 2021, Source Music explained that the group had mutually decided not to renew their contracts.
Post-disbandment, Sowon rebranded herself as Kim Sowon to pursue an acting career, signing with IOK Entertainment in 2022. Recently, she secured an exclusive contract with OUI Entertainment to further her career goals. Meanwhile, Yerin and Yuju have been making strides as solo artists under different management.”
The remaining members, Eunha, SinB, and Umji, formed a trio called VIVIZ and have released songs such as *BOP BOP!*, *PULL UP*, and *MANIAC*, continuing their musical journey.
Despite their separation, the members have been spotted celebrating group anniversaries on social media, demonstrating their strong bond. Additionally, in June 2024, Kim Sowon participated in a YouTube show hosted by hairdresser Lee Seung-hyu, where she discussed the group’s disbandment.
When asked about the possibility of a reunion and the reasons for their disbandment, she clarified:
“But we didn’t.”
She elaborated that their disbandment was merely a contract termination. Kim Sowon confirmed that the members remain close and often meet for meals together.
As they prepare to celebrate their 10th debut anniversary in January 2025, further details regarding GFRIEND’s reunion project have yet to be revealed by Source Music.
