On October 29, 2024, Min Hee-jin, the former CEO of ADOR, disclosed on YouTube’s School of Music D-talks First Live show, hosted by Kim Young-dae, that she received support from BTS member V during her disputes with HYBE.
Min Hee-jin collaborated with V, also known as Kim Taehyung, on the creative vision and concept for his debut solo album, Layover, which was launched on September 8, 2023. However, since April 2024, tensions between HYBE LABELS and Min have escalated, prompting her to express that she found support in V amidst the ongoing situation.
During her appearance, she shared that Kim Taehyung had reached out to check on her.
“I’m experiencing some issues, and V contacted me in a cheerful manner, asking, ‘Are you okay?’ I truly appreciate that he cared enough to reach out,” she remarked.
Additionally, Min mentioned that V sent her well wishes on her birthday.
“He even reached out to congratulate me on my birthday. He’s such a lively friend,” she added.
As the snippets from her interview began to circulate online, BTS fans noticed that Min Hee-jin’s birthday falls on December 16, 1979, leading to speculations that she may have fibbed about receiving birthday greetings from V.
Fans pointed out that Min Hee-jin’s birthday occurred before her public conflict with HYBE ignited in April 2023.
“Yet another falsehood from MHJ, and yet the general public and netizens see her as a victim. She’s lying about receiving attention from a BTS member. This is a minor matter, but if she can deceive about this, imagine what she could do concerning larger issues,”a fan remarked.
“Isn’t her birthday in December? If he did call her, it would have been before the controversy began! Why mention it now? Why do people want to drag Taehyung into this drama?” asked another fan.
“She’s leveraging Taehyung’s name because the court denied her request to reclaim her CEO position,” commented a social media user.
Fans continued to question the truthfulness of Min Hee-jin’s claims about V’s support.
“She’s seeking validation from BTS so desperately that she resorts to discussing the past,” wrote a fan.
“Taehyung is undoubtedly a kind-hearted person, but could these executives quit exploiting him for their gain?” another user remarked.
“MHJ is now involving the boys directly in this, and many of you legit believe her nonsense. Now that the court has turned down her request, she’s ready to do anything,” another Twitter user added.
Conversely, some netizens came to Min Hee-jin’s defense after hearing that V allegedly stayed in contact with her.
“I trust Taehyung. If he maintains a friendship with MHJ and keeps in touch, that’s enough for me to believe,”a user commented.
“V and MHJ are best friends,”another fan posted.
“I’ll support him whether or not it’s true,”stated another supporter.
Judge Denies Min Hee-jin’s Request for Reinstatement as CEO of ADOR
On August 27, ADOR removed Min Hee-jin from her CEO position and appointed Kim Joo-young, the Chief Human Resource Officer, as her successor. Subsequently, on September 13, Min filed for an injunction against HYBE seeking reinstatement, claiming her dismissal violated the shareholders’ agreement.
According to reports from Chosun, the Seoul Central District Court Civil Division 50, with Judge Kim Sang-hoon presiding, dismissed her injunction request, stating that her claims didn’t fulfill the necessary criteria for a legal judgment.
The court declared:
“The (injunction) application is without merit and lacks sufficient evidence to justify the need for preservation.”
Meanwhile, Min Hee-jin continues her role as a creative director within ADOR, overseeing creative aspects and productions related to the group NewJeans.
