Exciting News: RUINER 2 is in Development for PC
This afternoon, Polish independent studio Reikon Games revealed that it is currently developing RUINER 2 for PC. This title marks a continuation of 2017’s acclaimed twin-stick shooter, which garnered favorable reviews from both fans and critics alike.
An Evolution in Gameplay
For enthusiasts of high-octane action games that demand a mastery of skill, RUINER is a must-try. The sequel promises to broaden the experience significantly, incorporating co-op gameplay and transitioning the genre into the realm of cyberpunk action RPGs.
Insights from the Game Director
Marek Roefler, Game Director at Reikon, expressed the team’s enthusiasm:
“We are massive ARPG fans, and RUINER 2 is the game we’ve always wanted to play. We built the Shell System because we love theory-crafting and finding broken combinations, but we hated being locked into a single character for a hundred hours. This game is for players who want to experiment, swap builds on the fly, and discover synergies that tear the screen apart.”
Return to Rengkok: A New Adventure
Players will once again venture into Rengkok, a cyberpunk dystopia where corporations dominate every aspect of existence, including the ultimate fate of their characters. In a thrilling twist, the protagonist will take on the role of a hacker equipped to control up to three distinct “bodies, ”known as Shells, allowing for seamless transitions during intense combat scenarios.
Dynamic Gameplay Mechanics
Unlike the original game, players will not be confined to a single character class. By defeating bosses, they can unlock various Shells, each featuring:
- Unique Playstyles
- Four Skills with Two Branching Progression Nodes
- Dedicated Resource Pools: Power, CPU, and Memory that dictate gear loadouts with strategic trade-offs.
An innovative passive tree, referred to as the Neural Network, will further define each Shell’s abilities, allowing for a rich level of customization and strategy.
Cooperative Gameplay and Endless Challenges
In the single-player mode, users can simultaneously control a team of up to three Shells, effectively becoming a formidable one-person army. This strategic depth generates powerful Synergies, enabling players to combine Shell abilities for devastating combos. The cooperative mode enhances this experience, allowing up to three players to bring their Shells into battle—resulting in potentially six Shells in action at once. Increased player participation amplifies the synergies and stakes in each encounter.
Reikon has also teased an “endless endgame“mode that features increasingly challenging enemies, enhanced loot, and no upper limits on gameplay progression.

The official Steam page already outlines the minimum system specifications, which are as follows:

Looking Ahead
Notably, the original RUINER eventually launched on various consoles, including PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. It’s plausible that RUINER 2 may follow suit in the future.
