Voice Acting Changes in Genshin Impact: Junta Terashima Takes Over as Ifa
In an exciting development for fans of Genshin Impact, Junta Terashima has been announced as the new voice actor for Ifa, replacing the previous voice actor, Showtaro Morikubo. This update comes alongside the introduction of Shouhei Komatsu, who will voice Ifa’s companion, Cacucu, a Saurian character that adds depth and familiarity to the game’s narrative.
Background on the Voice Actor Transition
Showtaro Morikubo lent his voice to Ifa during a brief appearance in the Natlan region of the game. However, he was removed from the role in March 2025 for “various reasons, ” as stated by HoYoVerse. While specific details were not disclosed, speculation surrounds Morikubo’s participation in a reading of Inochigake no Shougen, which addresses the difficult circumstances faced by the Uyghur ethnic group under the Chinese government. This situation contributed to Morikubo losing significant roles in other popular games, such as Arknights and Onmyoji, lending credence to rumors regarding the voice actor’s departure from Genshin Impact.
Meet Junta Terashima and Shouhei Komatsu
Junta Terashima, born in 2009, has established a diverse career that spans both voice acting and singing. He is well-known for his roles, including Hyoga Yukimura in Inazuma Eleven Go, Shiki Ando in Paradox Live, and Sugiura in Judgment. His dynamic range is expected to bring new life to the character of Ifa.
Shouhei Komatsu, who will voice Cacucu, has previously made an impression in Genshin Impact and voiced Hizen Tadahiro in Touken Ranbu. His experience adds another layer of expertise to the cast.
Ifa’s Role in Genshin Impact
Ifa is depicted as a Saurian veterinarian belonging to the Flower-Feather Clan and is a close ally of the character Ororon. With a unique design and the possession of a Vision, there is a possibility that Ifa may become a playable character in future updates. Currently, Ifa has only been seen in an off-screen capacity during the Natlan Archon Quest.
