Announcement of Alan Wake 2 Anniversary Update Featuring Accessibility Options, Gyro Aiming, and Additional Features

The latest installment by Remedy Entertainment in its paranormal series, Alan Wake 2, launched on October 27, 2023. As fans eagerly await the game’s upcoming first anniversary, the studio is gearing up to unveil a comprehensive update packed with exciting features to commemorate the occasion. This update will include enhancements in usability and accessibility, upgraded support for the PlayStation DualSense controller, and much more.

According to the developers, “Our work on Alan Wake 2 hasn’t ceased since its launch.”They clarified, “We’ve been diligently developing the two expansions, Night Springs and The Lake House, while also collecting player feedback to implement adjustments and enhancements for the game.”

This significant anniversary update will introduce numerous features influenced by player input. Notably, the PlayStation DualSense controller will see substantial support improvements, including motion-controlled gyro aiming, alongside refined haptic feedback activated when utilizing healing and throwable items. However, it remains uncertain whether these enhancements will extend to the PC version for users employing the DualSense controller.

Additionally, the Alan Wake 2 anniversary update will introduce the option to invert the X axis on both mouse and controllers:

A key addition that players have frequently requested is the functionality to invert the X (horizontal) axis for both mouse and controller, along with the already available Y (vertical) axis option. This inversion can significantly affect gameplay preferences and, for many players, it addresses important usability and accessibility concerns.

Moreover, the Anniversary Update will include a new Gameplay Assist menu that allows players to customize the following options:

The Alan Wake 2 Anniversary Update is set to release on October 22 for PC via the Epic Games Store, as well as on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Additionally, don’t overlook the launch of the game’s second and final expansion, The Lake House, scheduled for release tomorrow.
