Anna Delvey stands by her viral “nothing”remark during her brief appearance on Dancing with the Stars. Julianne Hough, one of the show’s hosts, asked Delvey what she would take away from the competition after her elimination, to which Delvey bluntly replied, “Nothing.”
The convicted fraudster elaborated on her one-word answer in a conversation with Tori Spelling on her misSPELLING podcast on Sunday, September 29, 2024. In the episode titled “MisInvented,”Anna Delvey remarked:
“[The judges] told me what I’m supposed to do. I tried to do it and then I still was rejected. And, I’m taking away nothing. This is what I’m taking away from it, because your advice was worthless.”
Following her “nothing”comment on Dancing with the Stars, one of the show’s judges, Carrie Ann Inaba, described Delvey’s remark as “dismissive.”In an interview with Entertainment Weekly on September 25, 2024, she also stated that a touch of gratitude from Delvey “could have changed the narrative.”
However, during the podcast, Anna Delvey elaborated that the judges’ advice “did not pay off”for her, despite her efforts to adhere to it. She acknowledged that many people have interpreted her remarks in various ways, but she firmly insisted that she “really did not take away much”from her time on the program.
Delvey performed a quickstep inspired by The Devil Wears Prada with her DWTS partner Ezra Sosa on September 24, but unfortunately, she was eliminated after just two weeks in the dance competition.
Anna Delvey described her short stint on Dancing with the Stars as “a waste of time”
In another segment of the podcast, Anna Delvey shared her feelings about her elimination in week two of Dancing with the Stars. She described her early exit as “a bit upsetting,”stating that her overall experience on DWTS “felt like a waste of time… just to discard me too easily.”Delvey explained:
“I felt like, well, they were building me up. It’s like, oh, well, ‘Only if you smile more, only if you do like XYZ. It’s going to be so much better for you.’ And it felt like they put so much effort trying to get me on the show, like, making me feel comfortable just to… eliminate me this early.”
She expressed further confusion over her early elimination, particularly given the “effort”the producers had made to cast her. The show faced scrutiny for featuring Delvey, a convicted fraudster, particularly since she was under house arrest during the competition, having to wear her ankle monitor while on stage.
Nevertheless, Anna Delvey mentioned to Tori Spelling on the podcast that the cast “was generally nice”toward her. Spelling was also a participant in DWTS, leaving the show alongside Delvey in a double elimination during week two.
