Analyst Predicts Grand Theft Auto VI Could Launch at $100 Yet Remain Highly Profitable

The Anticipated Price Tag of Grand Theft Auto VI

The forthcoming release of Grand Theft Auto VI is expected to set unprecedented records in the gaming sector, not solely in revenue but also regarding its retail pricing. Analyst Michael Pachter of Wedbush Securities has made waves with his assertion that the game could debut at a staggering price of $100, marking it as the highest-priced standard edition game to date, excluding special editions. This prediction underscores Rockstar Games’ ambition to redefine market expectations.

Projected Revenue and Sales Insights

In an interview with The Telegraph, Pachter indicated that despite its hefty price, he anticipates Grand Theft Auto VI will deliver massive profits. He forecasts lifetime earnings of approximately $10 billion, along with an impressive $500 million in annual revenue from Grand Theft Auto Online. These figures align with the industry estimations, wherein the game’s development budget, including marketing, is projected to hover around $1.5 billion.

Market Predictions and General Consensus

Although predictions about the game vary, leading analysts agree on one fact: Grand Theft Auto VI is poised to be one of the most significant video game launches ever, potentially breaking all prior records. Recently, Josh Chapman, Managing Partner at Konvoy, reaffirmed forecasts indicating that the game might amass around $7.6 billion in its first two months alone. Moreover, there’s a strong belief that Take-Two Interactive could recover its substantial $2 billion investment within a mere month post-launch, underscoring the game’s anticipated popularity.

Release Information

Scheduled for launch on May 26, 2026, Grand Theft Auto VI will be available on multiple platforms including PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. While a PC version has yet to be officially confirmed, based on historical trends from earlier Rockstar titles, it is reasonable to expect its release on that platform in 2027.

“The expectations surrounding Grand Theft Auto VI reflect not just a game, but an event in the entertainment industry, ” said Pachter.
