Amy Schumer Aims to Launch Her Own Division at Adam Sandler’s Production Company Following Kinda Pregnant

Amy Schumer and Jillian Bell have joined forces in a delightful comedy titled Kinda Pregnant. The film centers on their characters, Lainy and Kate—two childhood friends who have long envisioned starting their own families. When Kate unexpectedly finds herself genuinely pregnant, Lainy, fearing she will be overshadowed, resorts to fabricating her pregnancy using a baby bump pillow.

This marks the first collaboration between Schumer and Bell on-screen. Schumer, a seasoned comedian and actress, gained significant attention with her breakout role in 2015’s Trainwreck, followed by performances in Snatched and I Feel Pretty. In contrast, Bell captured audiences’ hearts with her role in 22 Jump Street and has since starred in films like Brittany Runs a Marathon and Godmothered.

As Kinda Pregnant premiered on streaming platforms via Netflix, ScreenRant took the opportunity to converse with Schumer and Bell about their on-screen chemistry, Schumer’s collaboration with leading man Will Forte, and the implications of Adam Sandler’s production company backing this project for future collaborations.

ScreenRant: Amy, you have teamed up with Bill Hader in Trainwreck and now with Will Forte here. What seems to attract you to these Saturday Night Live comedians as romantic leads?

Amy Schumer: I have a penchant for selecting unexpectedly attractive partners, like Michael Cera, who may not initially be viewed as crush-worthy but are undeniably funny. I truly hope audiences leave this film with a new crush on Will Forte.

Schumer & Bell Anticipate Future Collaborations

“First time, hopefully not the last…”

Your on-screen chemistry is remarkable—it’s surprising this is your first collaboration.

Amy Schumer: Indeed, it’s our first time working together. I certainly hope it won’t be the last.

Jillian Bell: Oh, it definitely won’t be our last. I felt an instant connection the moment we met at an Emmy after-party. We just approached each other and clicked immediately.

Amy Schumer: It was like we had an intrinsic understanding from the get-go. There was no need for small talk—our bond was palpable.

Jillian Bell: Exactly! We could have taken a vacation together without even speaking, yet fully grasped how each other felt. Everything flowed effortlessly between us.

Adam Sandler’s Production Company Takes the Helm

“I want to start my own branch of Happy Madison…”

Partnering with Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison for this project, do you foresee more collaborations ahead?

Amy Schumer: I genuinely hope so! I aspire to establish my own branch of Happy Madison titled ‘Ashley Madison.’

Given the film’s bold humor, were there boundaries that you found too excessive during production?

Amy Schumer: Certainly, we had to dial it back on some aspects. Countless hilarious moments didn’t make it into the film because they were just ‘too much.’

Jillian Bell: The sex scene, however, stands out as one of the funniest I’ve ever witnessed!
