AMD’s board partners and retailers are poised to introduce the Radeon RX 9070 XT, as initial inventory has already been distributed. However, a prolonged embargo imposed by AMD prevents any sales until further notice.
Bulgaria Retailer Unveils PowerColor Radeon RX 9070 XT, Highlights AMD’s Pricing Strategy
News has emerged that AMD has rolled out the first wave of its RDNA 4 GPUs to partners and retailers globally. Nevertheless, multiple delays mean that these entities must hold off on sales, as AMD’s plans are scheduled to unfold in March.
A Bulgarian retailer recently shared insights regarding AMD’s pricing strategies for the RX 9000 series GPUs. In a YouTube video, the retailer showcased the PowerColor Red Devil Radeon RX 9070 XT, a model previously presented at CES. This variant is part of a broader release, which includes two additional RX 9070 XT models by PowerColor. Despite preparations by various board partners, official specifications and pricing details remain undisclosed.

The Bulgarian retailer also divulged AMD’s initial pricing intentions for the Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070. These prices may seem questionable when compared to leaked performance metrics. Reportedly, AMD aimed to price the RX 9070 XT similarly to the RX 7900 XT at around $899, while the RX 9070 was targeted for a price of $749. Given that the RX 9070 is suggested to be only slightly faster than the RX 7900 XT, these price points raise eyebrows.
Initially planning a launch alongside NVIDIA’s RTX 50 series—specifically the RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070—AMD has postponed its release from late January to March, citing necessary software optimizations. With more than a month available to refine their strategy, AMD has yet to confirm or leak any reliable pricing information for the RX 9070 XT and RX 9070.

Frank Azor has indicated that AMD’s 70-class GPUs are intended to compete directly with NVIDIA’s offerings in the same category. This suggests that the RX 9070 series could be priced competitively with the RTX 5070 Ti at $749 and the RTX 5070 at $549, thus making a $700+ list price for the RX 9070 XT and over $500 for the RX 9070 rather unlikely.
Current speculation indicates that the RX 9070 XT may not enter the market at the anticipated $700 price point. A recent leak mentioned a Gigabyte edition of the card being priced at $529, though these preliminary figures remain open to adjustment, and it’s plausible the RX 9070 XT could exceed the $600 threshold.
