AMD has recently released an updated version of its FidelityFX SDK, specifically version 1.1.3, which addresses multiple bug fixes while streamlining the functionality of FSR 3.1.1/2. This update is an essential resource for developers facing challenges with the previous iterations, providing a more robust and refined toolkit.

Key Features of AMD FidelityFX SDK 1.1.3

The newest SDK not only resolves previously known issues but also adds advanced functionalities tailored for both Vulkan and DirectX 12, further enhancing compatibility with the Microsoft Game Development Kit (GDK) for Xbox consoles and desktop systems. Below are the major highlights of this release:

1. Enhancements to Frame Interpolation Backend

This update has introduced a series of optimizations in the Frame Interpolation Backend, which significantly boosts performance and reliability. As a result, gamers can expect enhanced frame transitions, especially in titles utilizing FidelityFX Super Resolution 3.

2. Specific Updates for Vulkan

Key updates for Vulkan include the implementation of Letterbox changes, the elimination of binding shifts, a new VRAM query option, and improvements to queue selection and behavior. These modifications refine various facets of Vulkan, encompassing shader compilation, GPU queue selection, and efficient pipeline management.

3. Fixes for GAME_MOTION_VECTOR_FIELD Pass

The update rectifies issues related to the incorrect sampling of the back buffer in specific motion vector computations, which had previously led to rendering artifacts. This fix ensures a more accurate and visually pleasing gaming experience.

4. Framework Improvements

In addition to general framework stability enhancements, this SDK version introduces Typeless format support within DX12/GDK. It also allows for separate rendering of HUD elements from the back buffer—an essential feature for improving visual clarity.
