The newly unveiled Threadripper 9000 series processors are making waves as they undergo various benchmarking tests. Among them, the Threadripper Pro 9995WX has notably recorded over 30, 000 points in Geekbench, showcasing its impressive capabilities.

Threadripper Pro 9995WX Achieves 30, 170 Points in Geekbench Multi-Threaded Test, Priced Over $12, 000

AMD’s Threadripper processors have consistently dominated the charts for multi-threaded CPU performance, particularly the Pro series. These flagship chips are recognized for their remarkable core counts, which significantly contribute to their high multi-core scores. While the Ryzen Threadripper Pro 7995WX holds the title of the fastest Zen 4 workstation processor, the current top spot on Geekbench is held by Intel’s Core i7-13700K, which scored 33, 962 points, followed closely by other premium Intel CPUs.

It’s interesting to note that Geekbench testing tends to favor Intel CPUs in multi-threaded benchmarks. However, this does not imply that Intel processors outperform Threadripper CPUs in real multi-threaded applications, particularly those equipped with a higher core count. The Threadripper 7000 series remains a strong contender on the Geekbench leaderboard. Entering the scene is the new Threadripper 9000 series, also known as Shimada Peak, with the Threadripper Pro 9995WX recently measuring in at 30, 170 points in the Geekbench multi-threaded assessments, directly challenging the Threadripper Pro 7995WX performance.

The Threadripper Pro 7995WX holds a record score of 30, 579, although various results on the platform indicate fluctuating scores. While the newer 9995WX may appear equivalent to its predecessor in terms of ranking, it is equipped with enhancements that theoretically boost its performance. This model features an impressive 96 cores and 192 threads, similar to the 7995WX, but benefits from the latest Zen 5 architecture and increased clock speeds. Notably, the boost clock of the 9995WX is 300 MHz higher than that of the previous model, while maintaining a power draw of 350W TDP. While its single-core score is underwhelming, further testing could reveal potential improvements.

Pro Vantage Ryzen Threadripper Pro 9995WX

Recently, the Ryzen Threadripper 9980X outperformed the Threadripper Pro 7995WX in PassMark, achieving an outstanding benchmark. This reflects Shimada Peak’s significant presence in the workstation sector. While the Geekbench scores may not be as high as anticipated, it is essential to recognize that platform variability can yield substantial score differences. Currently, the Threadripper Pro 9000 WX series is targeted at the enterprise market, with the Ryzen Threadripper Pro 9995WX listed at Pro Vantage for $12, 793. This price point is notably higher than the predecessor’s $9, 999 listing, although it is speculated that future reductions may bring the price closer to the $10, 000 mark over time.
