
AMD is on the brink of unveiling its latest Zen 5 CPU, known as the Ryzen 7 9700F, featuring an impressive 8 cores, although it comes without an integrated GPU (iGPU).

New reports have surfaced regarding AMD’s forthcoming CPU designed for the AM5 socket. In response to this, motherboard manufacturers have already released the AGESA 1.2.0.3e BIOS firmware to provide compatibility with this upcoming chip. Initially, some speculated that this was part of the Ryzen 9000G series of desktop APUs, but it is, in fact, a distinct offering that could attract the attention of mainstream users.

While the AMD Ryzen 9000G Desktop APUs are still on their way, support for these units has been integrated into the AGESA firmware since the 1.2.0.3d update. In contrast, the AGESA 1.2.0.3e BIOS specifically accommodates the Ryzen 7 9700F, marking it as the first “F”series chip within the Ryzen 9000 lineup, tailored to stand out within the $250-$300 price range.

Similar to the Ryzen 7 9700X, the Ryzen 7 9700F will utilize the Zen 5 architecture, boasting 8 cores and 16 threads, complemented by 8 MB of L2 cache and 32 MB of L3 cache. The chip will operate at a reasonable 65W TDP and features the potential for overclocking, even though the absence of an iGPU will set it apart from its counterparts.
As is consistent with all AMD Ryzen 9000 “Zen 5″CPUs, there exists a 2 compute unit (CU) integrated graphics solution within the I/O die; however, the “F”models forego this feature. Expected clock speeds may be slightly lower for the Ryzen 7 9700F, yet not drastically so, ensuring it remains a compelling choice for mainstream builders.
