AMD has announced that the anticipated launch of its RX 9070 series GPUs is delayed primarily due to efforts in optimizing its software stack, which aims to enhance compatibility for users.
Launch Update: AMD’s RX 9070 Series GPUs Confirmed for March
The RX 9070 series has generated considerable buzz, with anticipation mounting around AMD’s latest offering. The unveiling of these next-gen RDNA 4 graphics cards is now pushed to March, marking a significant shift from the originally expected timeline. AMD’s Corporate Vice President and General Manager, David McAfee, stated that this decision aligns with the company’s commitment to executing a “perfect”launch, highlighting the importance of the last-minute optimizations being implemented.
I really appreciate the excitement for RDNA4. We are focused on ensuring we deliver a great set of products with Radeon 9000 series. We are taking a little extra time to optimize the software stack for maximum performance and enable more FSR 4 titles.
We also have a wide range of partners launching Radeon 9000 series cards, and while some have started building initial inventory at retailers, you should expect many more partner cards available at launch.

With this restructured software stack, expectations are high for a warmer reception for AMD’s products. The introduction of FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) 4, along with support across a larger array of mainstream games, contrasts sharply with the limited launch title support seen in previous generations. Furthermore, RDNA 4 will be accompanied by fine-tuned drivers, suggesting a smoother experience without the common bugs that have plagued earlier versions.

On another positive note, AMD anticipates a healthy inventory level at launch. A diverse network of retailers is preparing their stock, providing an advantage over NVIDIA, which is reportedly facing supply constraints with its RTX 50 series. This readiness to deliver ample supply during the launch phase could significantly ease the purchasing process for consumers and promote sales momentum for the RX 9070 series GPUs.
As excitement builds for the Radeon RX 9070 XT and its non-XT variant, AMD is poised to deliver exceptional performance to price ratio (perf/$), catering to mainstream gamers looking for value and capability in their graphics solutions.
