Rumors surrounding the release of a 32 GB Radeon RX 9070 XT GPU from AMD may have been curtailed, but speculation persists that the company could introduce it under a new moniker: the Radeon RX 9070 XTX.
The Possible Emergence of the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XTX: A 32 GB Powerhouse
Recently, fresh rumors have surfaced indicating that AMD may launch an RDNA 4 GPU featuring an impressive 32 GB memory capacity. Initially thought to be a non-PRO variant of the Radeon RX 9070 XT, AMD has issued a statement clarifying that a 32 GB version of the RX 9070 XT will not be released. Nevertheless, reports continue to suggest that a high-capacity GPU is still in development.

Notable leaker “Zhangzhonghao”from Chiphell, who has a track record of accurately reporting AMD-related news, claims that the tech giant may have rebranded its 32 GB GPU. Instead of the initial RX 9070 XT designation, the upcoming model is now rumored to be named the Radeon RX 9070 XTX. Historically, XTX GPUs represent AMD’s premium offerings, boasting enhanced core configurations, clock speeds, or memory specifications. While previous generations (RDNA 2 and RDNA 3) saw significant upgrades, the upcoming RDNA 4 may only deliver improvements in memory and clock speeds owing to the use of the complete Navi 48 die currently utilized in the RX 9070 XT.
If the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XTX is confirmed, it could double the memory capacity of its standard counterpart, in addition to minor clock speed enhancements and a slightly increased thermal design power (TDP).This model is likely to excel in AI applications, fully leveraging the upgraded AI and machine learning cores of the RDNA 4 architecture.

Adding further credibility, Benchlife has corroborated information from their sources within AIBs, suggesting that despite AMD’s denial regarding the 32 GB Radeon RX 9070 XT, the company is indeed developing products equipped with 32 GB GDDR6 memory based on the Navi 48 GPU die.
Now, although Frank Azor denied that there will be no 32GB GDDR6 memory version of Radeon RX 9070 XT, our sources confirmed that AMD is developing products with 32GB GDDR6 memory configuration with AIB partners. The GPU chip used is code-named Navi 48, the same as the Radeon RX 9070 series.
Anticipation builds as the AMD Radeon RX 9000 series powered by RDNA 4 is set to make a comprehensive presentation on February 28, with the retail launch targeted for March 6. Stay tuned for forthcoming details regarding AMD’s next-generation discrete graphics lineup.
