According to information shared by a retailer, AMD’s upcoming Radeon RX 9070 XT is expected to have substantially better availability next week compared to NVIDIA’s RTX 50 series GPUs. This could significantly boost the AMD graphics card’s market penetration.
AMD Outpaces NVIDIA in Radeon RX 9070 XT Availability Ahead of Launch
The much-anticipated Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 are set to debut in just two days, with a primary concern being their availability. As NVIDIA struggles to meet demand for its RTX 50 series GPUs, the spotlight now turns to AMD’s RDNA 4 lineup. Recent reports suggest that users may finally experience improved GPU supply thanks to AMD and its partner manufacturers.
In a recent announcement, AMD and its board partners highlighted the launch of the Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070. With retail sales beginning on March 6, an initial batch of these cards is likely already in transit to retailers worldwide. Insights from Hardware Canucks indicate that the availability of the Radeon RX 9070 XT will significantly surpass that of the RTX 5070 at launch.
Can confirm this. Spoke to a manager on the retail side over the weekend.
They’re sitting on more XT’s than they had 5000-series cards so far.
Also just 15x RTX 5070 cards expected to arrive at his location in the next two weeks unless something drastic changes.https://t.co/BDAoBgxnpM

The confirmation from a retail manager in Canada highlights that their inventory of RX 9070 XT cards exceeds that of all received RTX 50 series GPUs combined. While the exact figures remain undisclosed, the comparison is telling, particularly considering the historically low supply of models like the RTX 5090, RTX 5080, and RTX 5070 Ti.
It’s projected that the retailer will stock approximately 15 times more RX 9070 XT GPUs at launch relative to the RTX 5070, set to release one day earlier on March 5. Should NVIDIA continue to underdeliver on GPU supply, this launch could present significant challenges for the company, especially given the larger market share represented by mid-range cards priced between $500 and $700, compared to the high-end $1000+ segment.

Despite NVIDIA not having shipped substantial quantities of the already-launched RTX 5090, RTX 5080, and RTX 5070 Ti even after a month from their release, AMD seems poised to lead the market in shipment volumes with the RX 9070 series. However, it’s important to note that this inventory news may vary based on regional distributions, and overall market demand for GPUs is rapidly intensifying as previous-generation models are becoming scarce.
The AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT is priced at $599, while the RX 9070 is available for $549. AMD positions the RX 9070 XT to compete with the pricier RTX 5070 Ti, while the RX 9070 is aimed directly at the RTX 5070.
