AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT Benchmark Results Show Faster Performance Than NVIDIA RTX 4080 SUPER in 3DMark TimeSpy Extreme

The initial performance benchmarks for AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 XT have recently emerged, indicating significant improvements in the mainstream graphics card segment.

AMD has left many in the tech community curious, as they disclosed minimal information about the highly anticipated RDNA 4 GPU lineup. The revelation primarily included the first models, such as the Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070. Nevertheless, well-informed sources and leakers have stepped in to fill the void, sharing what seems to be GPU-Z screenshots alongside 3DMark test results via Chiphell. These insights shed light on the specifications and comparisons of this upcoming GPU against existing models.

Despite the removal of some original images to adhere to non-disclosure agreements, key details have still circulated, thanks to insights from @0x22h on X. An intriguing comment from an expert reviewer on Chiphell suggested that consumers might want to think twice before preordering NVIDIA’s RTX 50 series GPUs, stating the “world has changed”and implying that the performance of RDNA 4 could be quite groundbreaking. This hints at potential last-minute enhancements by Team Red, which will be discussed in further detail.

Reports suggest that the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT will feature a higher typical board power (TBP) of approximately 329W for reference models. This insight comes from a respected leaker on Chiphell, with accompanying Furmark test results corroborating the power specifications. Furthermore, GPU-Z tests indicate impressive performance metrics, showcasing boost clock speeds of up to 3060 MHz and base clock speeds at 2520 MHz. Additionally, the RX 9070 XT will include 16 GB of VRAM, with testing conducted on an ASUS variant equipped with 4096 stream processors.

In benchmark comparisons, the Radeon RX 9070 XT scored 6,345 points in the 3DMark TimeSpy test and 14,591 points in the Speed Way test, showcasing performance that outstrips its predecessor, the RDNA 3 flagship Radeon RX 7900 XTX. Moreover, when matched against competing models from NVIDIA, the RX 9070 XT eclipses the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER by a margin of approximately 6% to 8% according to 3DMark’s results.

It is crucial to acknowledge that the RDNA 4 drivers are reportedly still in beta. Therefore, these benchmark figures may fluctuate by the time of the official launch.
