AMD is set to reveal the much-anticipated Radeon RX 9070 GPUs on January 22, having already dispatched review samples to various tech reviewers.
Debut Details for the AMD Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT
The unveiling of AMD’s RDNA 4 GPU lineup, which many expected to occur at CES, is now confirmed for January 22. This initial reveal will cover the Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT, built on the Navi 48 architecture. Reports from Chiphell forums suggest that these GPUs will officially be introduced on this date.
Although the Chiphell forum post has since been removed, insights shared by the user @9550pro indicate that the retail launch embargo will lift just two days later, on January 24. Reviewers have started to receive their samples in anticipation of the review embargo ending on the same day as the reveal, January 22. A user on the forums who has acquired the Radeon RX 9070 stated:
The 9070 has arrived, NDA ends on the 22nd. How can we evaluate this? Not bringing the 5080?
Community Revelations and Speculations
In parallel, Reddit user u/Itzamedave shared images of the Gigabyte Radeon RX 9070 GPU on the r/radeon subreddit. This model, featuring a triple-fan setup, is confirmed to be the slower variant utilizing the Navi 48 die, with the post titled, “The 9070 has arrived. It’s real.”
Pricing Insights for the RX 9070 Series
Regarding pricing, the leaker @9550pro shared that the AMD reference RX 9070 XT is expected to retail for approximately $479, while custom AIB editions may start at around $549. However, this should be approached with caution as it remains a rumor.
Notably, this pricing aligns with the official MSRP of the GeForce RTX 5070 Founders Edition, although premium AIB editions typically fetch higher prices. If accurate, the RX 9070 XT could emerge as a compelling mid-range option, particularly if it performs comparably to the RTX 4070 Ti/Super as indicated in earlier leaks.
Though preliminary benchmarks have surfaced, some leaks suggest that the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT might even rival the performance of the RTX 4080 Super. Retailers have already begun listing these graphics cards for pre-orders, commencing on January 23. As for the RX 9070, there are no pricing details available yet, but the official announcement alongside detailed specifications is expected on the 22nd of January.
