Recent reports suggest that the release of AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 GPUs will feature a constrained supply at their recommended retail price (MSRP) upon launch, with subsequent stock expected to be priced higher.
Projected Price Increases for RX 9070 Series GPUs
The launch of AMD’s RX 9070 Series initially appeared promising, with anticipations of broad market availability. However, this availability is likely to diminish shortly after the release. While the MSRP of the RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 may seem competitive against NVIDIA’s RTX 5070 series, it is expected that prices will escalate in the near future.
According to a Swedish retailer, INET, AMD’s board partners will likely raise prices for the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT models following the sale of the initial inventory. Several retailers have already acquired substantial stock, with some reporting over 1, 000 units of each variant. This availability is notably better compared to the RTX 50 series GPUs.
Given the high demand and limited supply, it is anticipated that AIBs (Add-In Board partners) and retailers will capitalize on this situation by marking up prices. INET indicates that once their current stock of RX 9070 GPUs is sold, subsequent restocks may come at elevated prices.

While the specific price hikes remain uncertain, indications from various sellers suggest substantial increases. For instance, some listings even reached up to $849—representing a $250 premium over the official MSRP for the RX 9070 XT. Given INET’s commentary, the RX 9070 XT might easily exceed $800, particularly with custom AIB models.
Currently, brands like XFX, PowerColor, ASRock, and Sapphire are providing base models at MSRP, whereas retailers such as Gigabyte and ASUS list their offerings at higher price points. Once the initial inventory is depleted, the subsequent batch of GPUs is expected to reflect these increased prices.
We literally have around 2000 units from Sapphire in stock, 1000 from Powercolor and 1000 from Asrock, I feel stock will be fine for a few days. MSRP is capped quantity of a few hundred, so prices will jump once those are sold through.

Overclockers UK has corroborated these findings, projecting that prices will indeed rise shortly after initial stock runs out. While the launch itself may proceed smoothly, price stability is likely to be achieved only after a considerable period, especially as NVIDIA’s RTX 50 series becomes more widely available.
